Qoricancha, eller den "gyllene gården", var den viktigaste platsen tillägnad dyrkan av solguden. Väggarna var en gång täckta med bladguld. På denna plats byggdes klostret som idag bär samma namn, med polerade stenstrukturer. Den har en anmärkningsvärd fasad i renässansstil och ett unikt barocktorn, samt en imponerande samling målningar från Cuscoskolan.
Namnet Saqsayhuaman betyder "nöjd falk" på quechua. Denna fästning byggdes för att skydda staden Cusco från östra inkräktare och är ett utmärkt exempel på Inkakrigets militära arkitektur. Byggd med enorma granitblock, av vilka några når upp till 5 meter i höjd och väger upp till 350 ton, består den av tre stora terrasser kantade av kolossala stenmurar som sträcker sig upp till 300 meter i längd. På grund av sin närhet till Cusco fungerade det också som stenbrott för några av stadens koloniala byggnader.
Qenqo var ett ceremoniellt centrum för inkafolket med tunnlar och plattformar som användes för ritualer och religiösa ceremonier, vilket visar platsens andliga betydelse för inkakulturen. Qenqo har sniderier, hål, steg och kanaler, troligen använt för att deponera chicha (en majsbaserad dryck) i Inkaritualer.
Puca Pucara är också känd som den röda fästningen eftersom stenarna som den byggdes med har fått denna färg på grund av deras höga järnhalt. Förutom fästningen kan man se andra arkeologiska strukturer som akvedukter, inhägnader och fontäner. På grund av dess närhet till Tambomachay och dess egenskaper tros det att det utgjorde ett militärt fort för att försvara denna plats.
Tambomachay, känt som "Inkabadet", var ett ceremoniellt centrum tillägnat dyrkan av vatten och en viloplats för Inkamonarken. Den är gjord av snidade stenar, som bildar en vacker uppsättning kanaler och vattenfall, som kommer från källor. Slut på tjänsterna.

This was a great introduction to the archaeological sites around Cusco, our guide was knowledgeable, led us around the sites efficiently avoiding long ticket lines, and allowed plenty of time to walk around and take photos. I especially appreciate the option at Saqsayhuaman to choose whether to return on the bus or spend as much time as we wanted then walk back on our own. I chose to spend over 2 hours exploring the stunning site taking my time and had small picnic lunch that I recommend packing if you do this. Finally, I really enjoyed the roughly 30 minute mostly down hill walk through some picturesque residential streets back to the city center.
A fabulous Inca place, overlooking the city of Cusco!!!! We wonder how such a site could have been built when we see the size of the stones and their weight!!!!! It is advisable to take several hours to visit the entire site which is very extensive!!!!! Note that the welcome of Peruvians is really warm and really changes from that of French

I wouldn't recommend this experience to an English speaker. The guide was difficult to understand and the tour was rushed due to the guide needing to explain everything in two languages at each stop.
This place is really nice but after exploring Machupichu, the Sacred Valley or Sacsaywaman everything seems pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong I was fascinated with the majestic constructions but after a while, I got tired of it. It is worthy to see it. I suggest going there before going to Machupichu.

An amazing place, rain or no rain. The history of the place is amazing. Our guide told us how they moved the stones and part of the Inca structure, Seeing him in person is surprising. The pictures are great next to the big rocks and the windows still standing
