Du kan lika gärna kalla Budapest ”Food-a-pest” eftersom den ungerska huvudstaden kryllar av läckra restauranger, och på denna prioriterade matresa hjälper vi dig att äta som en lokalbo, ingen planering krävs. Turen börjar vid en gammal synagoga, eftersom mycket av det ungerska köket är starkt influerat av judisk kultur och tradition. Du får det bästa av två världar när det gäller stadens gastronomiska scen, från lokala hemligheter till avancerade platser. Först provar du utsökt gatumat som traditionell ungersk soppa och Lángos, ett friterat tunnbröd, och sköljer ner det med lokalt Dreher-öl. Efter att ha dränkt oss i den excentriska atmosfären på stadens festgator beger vi oss till finare platser för en sitt-och-sitt-måltid. Smaka ungerska klassiker som kycklingpaprikash, en ungersk comfort food med bräserad kyckling och paprika och en shot Pálinka. Vi avslutar turen med sött vin från Tokaji, Ungerns berömda vinregion, och somlói, en baggistårta med vaniljsås.

Great evening tour! It was a small group of seven (two couples and three solo travelers), which made the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The tour was informative, well-paced, and a great way to explore Budapest without feeling rushed. Eszti was a wonderful host - friendly, quick-witted, intelligent, and with a great sense of humor. She made everyone feel welcome and kept the evening engaging from start to finish. P.S. Don't forget to ask Eszti about her mom's "special lángos"! 😉

Our guide was very good and individually we would give her four stars so that wasn’t the problem. Issue 1 was we paid for a small group tour. 18 very nice folks showed up. Not a small group so either TripAdvisor or Carpe Diem is getting greedy. We expected less than 10. Also, without a quiet box and so many people we were often out of earshot and lost out on local content being offered. Issue 2 was this was advertised as a food and beverages tour. One beer and a very small shot makes part of this statement misleading. We have taken similar tours in Melbourne, Barcelona and Lisbon with TripAdvisor and been very satisfied, so this makes tour doubly disappointing. We think this tour needs a rethink.

We paid for the Carp Diem food Tour in Budapest. We didn’t know what to expect but this tour was incredible. The several places we went to gave us huge portions of true Budapest food and we tried so many great dishes. Most of all, our guide Kelly made it so much fun and provided some great input on the history and current life in Budapest. She was a very special young woman. It appeared that the group of 12 people had a delightful time.

We had a brilliant time on the Carpe Diem Budapest food tour. We visited four fantastic venues, each offering something unique and full of character. Our host, Peter, was outstanding and was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and he really took the time to chat with everyone in the group, which made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. The group made the experience even better. We were joined by two lovely couples, one from Colorado and another from Brisbane and Seattle which created a great mix. Everyone got on really well. The food was a real highlight. We got to try a great mix of traditional Hungarian dishes, including: • Delicious, hearty goulash soup (my absolute favourite) • Freshly made lángos • A rich chocolate cake • And Granny’s chicken paprikash, which was full of flavour My wife absolutely loved it as well, we were both raving about it afterwards. As if that wasn’t enough, the tour also included a nice wee walk through the ruin bars, giving us a taste of Budapest’s unique nightlife and atmosphere. Overall, everything was spot on! great food, great venues, a brilliant group, and an excellent host. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Budapest!
