Besök Volcan Wines och dess vinmuseum, som ligger i Vothonas, Santorini, på vägen till Kamari Beach. Detta charmiga familjeföretag har varit verksamt sedan 1880. Medan moderna maskiner i rostfritt stål har ersatt traditionella träverktyg produceras vinerna fortfarande i klassisk stil. Anläggningen har ett imponerande underjordiskt museum, som ligger 8 meter under ytan och sträcker sig 300 meter lång. Den visar historien om vin och livet för Santorinis bönder från 1660 till 1950 genom verklighetstrogna utställningar, animatronics och en automatiserad audio tour.

Vinmuseet ligger i en naturlig grotta åtta meter under marken. Det är den enda i sitt slag i Grekland och det tog familjen Koutsoyannopoulos, fjärde generationens vinproducenter, 21 år att bygga den. Museets besökare har möjlighet att lära sig om vinets historia och vinodlarnas liv på Santorini sedan 1660-talet genom en automatisk audio Guide, tillgänglig på 14 språk eller en guidebok, tillgänglig på 22 språk. I slutet av turen finns viner producerade i Koutsoyannopoulos vingård tillgängliga för provsmakning i vingårdens provsmakningsrum.

För alla resenärer som börjar turen från flygplatsen, hamnen och linbanan, kommer en medlem av vårt team att vänta och hålla en skylt med ditt namn på. Alkoholhaltiga drycker är endast tillåtna för vuxna.

Very nice visit followed by a tasting of excellent wines. An astonishingly dense museum; explanations about the unique viticulture techniques of Santorini. Our tasting guide, Angela, was lovely and shared many restaurant recommendations on the island with us.
The Cave museum is self guided with audio devices rather than a tour, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. If you love antiques and winemakers history, this is an interesting walk through. Wine tasting after the tour was fun and interactive. A nice way to use 2 hours in Santorini.
At the end of April 2026, we didn't need to book. Coming from Fira, this is the road to the airport. The museum is about 2 km away. The KTEL bus can drop us off on request, if not too many people. Several tasting packages of good local wine, of choice. Very clean, well organized, fun and informative museum. Very welcoming and professional staff. It's worth a visit and we can ask for a taxi back...
This tour is a must do! The way the museum is layed out provides a visual lens of how wine production was made and the transition from primitive to modern production. The wine tasting was also a good touch to cap off the tour. Delicious!
This was very informative, the wine was good, but pretty short. You were also your own tour guide, with speaker. Could have been better, but not bad.
We did the self guided tour of the museum which gave us the opportunity to go at our own pace. The wine tasting was good. The only negative is that we weren’t sure when and how to be picked up once completed. I called the Viator company and they had someone come quite quickly which was nice.
Base price was €20 per person for entry, no discount for older Australians, didn’t go in. One good note, is that the local bus that runs between Fira and Kamera beach will drop you almost 100 m flat walk, cost for the additional stop is another €1.60 one way per person.

We had a wonderful time with Banos and Anna! They were very sweet and knowledgeable about the history and culture. They were extremely accommodating! We would highly recommend them!!
