Slottet är en fästning i staden Cartagena och byggdes 1639 och ligger på kullen San Lázaro.
På ön Manga ligger fortet San Sebastian del Pastelillo, som nu har blivit platsen för den berömda restaurangen Club de Pesca. På denna plats fanns fortet Boquerón, som förstördes 1741 av Admiral Vernon i attacken mot staden Cartagena. Tillsammans med andra fästningar som Fort San Jose och Fuerto de San Fernando kontrollerade den sjöfarten av viken för att förhindra eventuella attacker. San Sebastian del Pastelillo fort har 31 vapen och kamouflage uppnås på marken. San Sebastian-namnet kommer från en helgon som var erövareens beskyddare, och Pastelillo är en militär term som betyder som gräs, därför ett slott som anpassar sig till terrängen.
Femton meter hög, cirka 20 ton marmor, skulpturen av Virgen del Carmen återvände till Cartagenabukten den 6 juni för att fortsätta med en tradition på mer än 30 år som avbröts efter bildens kollaps i augusti 2015. Den emblematiska figuren, vars bitar i italiensk vit marmor föll till botten av vattnet i kraftigt regn, återvanns från havsbotten i en operation som samordnades med National Navy. Vid tillfället av Virgen del Carmen-festen den 16 juli 1946 ägde en vacker procession i Cartagena rum. I den avslutande prekenen var han ansvarig för fader Rafael García Herreros, från balkongerna i det nuvarande stadshuset, nära Plaza de la Inquisición, lanserade han idén att upprätta en kolossal bild av Our Lady, the Virgin of the Sea , mitt i viken. Ett pro-monumentbräde skapades och började träffas varje vecka i sakristiet i klostret Santo Domingo, där Conciliar Seminary var verksamt. Med hjälp av Manuel Mainero, italiensk konsul i Cartagena, och representant för rederiet "Italian Line", hanterades skapandet av en marmorbild med signaturen U. Luisi Heredi, skulptörer av Pietra Santa, befolkningen i Italien nära Pizza. Invigningen ägde rum den 16 juli 1958. Den dagen sjöng en folkmassa, ledd av ärkebiskopen José Ignacio López, beröm till Jungfru i en imponerande procession som lämnade katedralen och nådde murarna längs Arsenal Avenue.

I början av XVII-talet beslutades att befästa den inre bukten, och i ett kungligt dekret från 1608 byggandet av ett fort i Punta del Judío, beställdes Santa Cruz. Känd som bekant som Castillogrande, byggdes den av Cristóbal de Roda och Francisco de Murga mellan 1626 och 1636, efter planen för Tiburcio Spanoqui. Det var en fästning med en kvadratisk bas, med bulwarks i vart och ett av de fyra hörnen, en central vapengård och en vallgrav. När Bocagrande-ingången stängdes 1640 förändrades den defensiva strategin för bukten, centrerad mot Bocachica-ingången. Detta faktum påverkade de befintliga fästningarna i viken och beordrade deras nedmontering 1647 för att återanvända materialen vid byggandet av San Luis de Bocachica. Trots detta skulle Castillogrande överleva tills den franska attacken leddes av Baron De Pointis 1697, då den förstördes allvarligt. Juan de Herrera y Sotomayor ansåg det vara nyckeln för försvaret av hamnen, därför ledde han 1728 sin återuppbyggnad som inte skulle slutföras 1741 när Vernon attackerade staden. Fästningen förstördes delvis och skulle inte byggas om, och dess rester användes sedan dess som ammunition för artilleriet. Denna användning fortsatte fram till 1938, då en explosion i en ammunitionsuppsättning som marinen bevarade där förstörde dess valv, vilket bara lämnade en del av vallen bredvid hamnen och andra kvarvarande delar. Det är för närvarande integrerat i installationen av Officers Club of the National Navy.

It was really fun! Specially at the beginning, they have a really fun DJ, but for what you pay I don't feel satisfied. No food! I thought I was buying dinner on a boat which is what I was looking for, but its fun for couples. The drinks were not great.

The boat is nice, they have a restroom, seats for everyone and only one part is covered with a roof. There is a DJ, two bartenders and two waiters. The ambiance is great, music, jokes, and a little pirate show before coming back. They provide guidance on how to find the boat in a very busy port, they send a picture of the ship and a picture of your guide. Our guide, Elkin, was the best photographer we could find, he took pictures, made videos, and helped us with every request. The drinks are included and unlimited. We went with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. If you go with kids, keep an eye on them since the boat has open spaces that a child could easily fit into and fall. They provide lifesaving vests upon request.
NOT recommended for children - It is a scam We did the "Black Pearl II" activity with my children expecting something pirate-themed. Out of 2 hours, only 10 minutes were for children. The rest is for adults: rude language, sexual content, and drinking competitions between the DJ and the attendees. There were 10 bored children exposed to an inappropriate environment. My children left saying: "I am disappointed. This is a scam". Zero education, zero pirate theme, just noise. Now I have to explain to my son swear words he learned there. It is a SCAM to get people onto the boat. Do not bring children. NOT for kids - Total SCAM We did the "Black Pearl II" activity with my kids expecting a pirate experience. Out of 2 hours, only 10 minutes were for children. The rest is for adults: rude language, sexual content, and drinking contests between the DJ and guests. There were 10 kids onboard, all bored and exposed to an inappropriate environment. My kids said: "I'm disappointed. This is a scam." No teaching, no pirate theme, just noise. Now I have to explain new swear words my son learned there. They just pack the boat with people. Do NOT take children. An experience you must do when visiting the city. Spectacular view, cheerful atmosphere, great crew service, and beautiful photos.
The boat is beautiful. I believe we were lucky that few people went up to our reservoir; besides my family and me (4 people), only another family of 4, two couples, and a single guy went up. This allowed us to do many activities such as raising the sails and participating in the pirate ship battle. It is all-you-can-drink, and it is totally worth it; the drinks are very good and strong, but that is what one looks for in an all-you-can-drink. I loved the music, all the decorations, and they also lend you pirate hats and plastic swords for taking photos. The crew is not only perfect for setting the party atmosphere, but they are also excellent for taking photos; they helped us take incredible pictures that we will keep as memories. The service was very pleasant; one would expect that because it is all-you-can-drink, they would take a long time to bring or serve the drinks, but quite the opposite; even before you finish your drink, they offer you another one, and I loved that. We had a cloudy day, but even so, the views of the coast and the city are beautiful; the navigation does not feel turbulent, and it is an excellent plan to party in a relaxed way with family. Totally recommended.
The tour is very delicious and the hours fly! The people who were working were extremely dear to me and my family. We are Brazilians and we did not master 100% of Spanish, but the team made a lot of efforts to serve us in the best way possible. They were very caring, especially with my father. The included drinks could have a better quality, especially we didn't like them very much hahahaha. Other than that, the walk and the climate are amazing! The DJ got too much on the chosen songs. We were very happy and grateful for this afternoon surrounded by good people, excited and happy!
The pirate ship boat tour was a wonderful experience with beautiful views and a stunning sunset. It was such a relaxing time, and I highly recommend it for couples looking to enjoy a peaceful and memorable outing. The crew members on the ship were very helpful and made the whole experience even better. Overall, it was a fantastic way to unwind and take in the scenery.

This had to be one of the best experiences in Cartagena! The crew was next to none, Xabier , Elkin, and Jorlin made this experience for us unforgettable. Elkin a professional photographer/videographer made sure we left the cruise with amazing memories on film. Drinks were flowing music was playing! This tour is a must. Worth every penny!
