På vägen till det första stoppet ser du ruinerna av den romerska teatern i Cádiz, en av de största som någonsin byggts i det romerska riket. Med anor från år 70 f.Kr. kan den ta emot cirka 10 000 gäster.
Efter detta första historiska stopp beger vi oss till Central Market, där lokalbefolkningen gör sina ärenden och köper färska råvaror att laga hemma. Här kan du njuta av pescaíto frito, en kulinarisk skatt som visar upp regionens kärlek till färska skaldjur. Den här rätten har ett härligt sortiment av småfisk – ofta inklusive små vitbeten och ansjovis – lättsmetade och stekta till gyllene perfektion. Resultatet är en krispig, beroendeframkallande godbit som spricker av havssmak!
Du passerar Torre Tavira, ett 1700-talstorn med panoramautsikter och utställningslokaler, på väg till vårt nästa stopp: ett av stadens mest traditionella bagerier och konditorier, grundat 1961. Här kommer du att upptäcka några söta godsaker att ta med och njuta av i slutet av din turné – avsluta på en söt ton!
Plaza de San Antonio är ett av de mest centrala torgen i staden, fullt av politisk och patriotisk mening. I själva verket utfärdades konstitutionen här 1812! I närheten kommer du att besöka en tapasbar där du kommer att smaka tapas som Papas Aliñás : en läcker och uppfriskande twist på potatissallad som perfekt fångar kärnan i det andalusiska köket. Dessa mjuka, kokta potatisar blandas kärleksfullt med en livfull blandning av olivolja, vinäger, färsk persilja och en skvätt salt, vilket skapar en maträtt som är både enkel och sprudlande av smak. Papas aliñás är ofta prydda med kapris eller lök och är det perfekta tillbehöret till fisk och skaldjur eller avnjuts som ett lätt mellanmål. Med sin härliga kombination av texturer och kryddiga noter erbjuder de en smak av det soliga Medelhavet direkt på din tallrik!
Plaza de Mina är ett av de mest emblematiska och grönaste torgen i staden, tack vare sina fantastiska 1700- och 1800-talsbyggnader och frodig vegetation - vissa träd är över 100 år gamla! I närheten kan du njuta av ett utbud av lokala tapas i en restaurang som erbjuder äkta andalusiska smaker.
Vi kommer att komma tillbaka nära utgångspunkten, det majestätiska Cadiz stadshus med sin vita fasad och dess omgivande monument, såsom Arco del Populo eller San Juan de Dios kyrka. I en lokal butik i närheten avslutar vi vårt kulinariska äventyr med en smak av sherry, den traditionella drycken från Cadiz. Höj ett glas till det andalusiska köket!

We enjoyed our tour with Carla and learned a bit about Cadiz while sampling the local cuisine at a number of places. This a great introduction to Cadiz and we recommend it.

Such a brilliant tour, we can’t recommend this enough. We have visited Cádiz before but never knew of the history & hidden secrets behind the doors! Our guide Judy was amazing, very knowledgeable and a great laid back presentation. We had some incredible local food including ice cream - or was it gelato for dessert. Stopped at a local bar we would have walked past on our own and sampled excellent beer & wine. It’s a must do tour in Cádiz and great value for money. Thank you very much Judy. See you next year!
Unfortunately, we were not able to finish the tour because my husband was not feeling well. It was a very hot day. But that is not why I’m getting three stars. The format of this Tour was not a typical for a food tour. We walked for almost an hour before we had our first food stop and it was a historical walking tour, which was not what we were expecting. Most tours stop very shortly and have a food experience. there was quite a bit of walking in between the first and second stop. Before we got to the second stop my husband decided he did not want to continue., so I did not comment on the rest of the Tour, but we did not sign up for the historical walking tour, food with our focus.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. First of all, as professionals, we are always genuinely sorry when our guests are not able to fully enjoy their time with us. We hope your husband felt better quickly, Cádiz on a very hot day can certainly be challenging! That said, with a little touch of humor, we have to thank you as well. Even though you were unfortunately only able to experience the first two stops before leaving the tour, your review actually highlights something we are very proud of. Unlike a more standard food tour focused only on moving from one tasting to the next, our experience intentionally combines Cádiz’s food with its history, streets, stories and culture. For us, understanding what is on the plate is even more enjoyable when you also understand the city and the people behind it. We want our guests to leave not only with a full stomach, but with a little piece of Cádiz in their hearts (and perhaps a few historical facts in their pockets!). So, in a funny way, your three-star review may actually give future guests a very good reason to join us if they are looking for exactly that deeper experience. We sincerely hope you don’t mind our little touch of humor, and we wish you and your husband all the best. Fantastic tour, Carla brought us all around town to hear about the ancient history and tried local delicacies. Whenever I thought we had our last bite, there was another stop with more food than I expected. Highly recommend.
Julie was great! She knew so much history and also curated the tour based on what we wanted to eat/see. It was really hot and busy so we decided to relax and take it slow and Julie really helped us enjoy our time
We booked a Cadiz food tour and Estrella was our guide. She was fabulous! She walked us around the city and was very knowledgeable with the architecture, history and culture of Cadiz. We walked through the market where we had a delicious variety of sea food and wine, as well as many more delicious stops along the tour. Estrella was fun and personable- highly recommend!
