It was brutally hot inside but Daniel's expert commentary made it all worthwhile. He is so energetic, knowledgeable and even awe-inspiring (in his knowledge)!! Is he a professor or something???
Giovanni was extremely knowledgeable and gave unique insight into the artifacts. He was kind and gave clear answers to questions.
Fantastic tour, very informative, and the museum will blow you away. I know there's lots of controversy surrounding the museum. There's no denying that its existence is a direct result of British imperialism, but they seem to at least be a little apologetic about it now at least. You can't go to London without visiting the Museum of London. Ask for Daniel!
Jerry was great! He gave us and our kids the perfect amount of context to appreciate what we were seeing. Will definitely recommend this tour to friends!
Guides are very informative. Museum itself very crowded and uncomfortably warm for the most part with summer temperatures (museum issue, not tour service issue). Best to attend/experience when temperatures are more mild.
Our guide was James and he was amazing - very informative without being verbose. The tour was just the right length with highlights of the British Museum. Otherwise, the museum has lots to see and one can spend an entire day looking at everything. The only downside was that the museum does not have air conditioning and our visit was during the hottest time of the day during a very hot day (33C/92F).
The experience was fantastic! There was so much to see, and it was all so interesting. Our guide, Daniel, was wonderful!
James was a very informative guide. The tour gave us a snap shot idea of what we could see in a very large exhibition. With no AC it was extremely warm in the rooms.
Our guide, Joey, was entertaining and informative. The enlightenment wing was closed which seemed to throw him off a little from the start. We spent a lot of time at just a few exhibits and we left not feeling like we had seen most of the museum. Our guide used his phone a lot for additional context of the stories he was telling, but we would have preferred the time spent seeing additional exhibits and artifacts.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about Joey. We're delighted to hear you found him entertaining and informative. We're sorry that your visit was affected by the unexpected gallery closures. Due to the extreme hot weather on the day of your tour, the British Museum temporarily closed the Enlightenment Gallery, along with a small number of other galleries, to protect the collection and ensure visitor safety. Unfortunately, these decisions are made by the museum and are completely outside of our control. Despite these closures, Joey adapted the tour to ensure you still experienced many of the museum's highlights, including the Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Living and Dying, Mexican, and Medieval Europe galleries. Rather than simply replacing the closed sections with additional stops, he focused on providing the historical context and stories that help bring the objects to life, even when some planned highlights were unavailable. We appreciate your comments regarding the pace and use of visual references on his phone. Many of our guides use historical images, reconstructions, and maps to help visitors better understand the artefacts and the stories behind them, but we understand that different guests have different preferences. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you'll have the opportunity to visit again when all of the museum's galleries are open so you can enjoy the full experience.
Joey was an awesome guide! He was thoughtful, considerate, engaging and extremely knowledgeable! We learned so much from his tour and saw amazing things that are often overlooked. We highly recommend this tour!
