Beskrivning

A different kind of Boston Tour

We had an amazing tour with Lynn. We wanted a different kind of history tour of Boston and this really hit that spot. It was great to hear the stories and the history of Beacon Hill and those who helped free Black Americans and thier contributions to Boston and America.

The best tour guide EVER.

I am a 76 year old black woman born and raised in Boston listening to a young white man telling me about some very important but not very well known history about blacks in Boston. From the moment Will introduced himself and explained the plan for our tour, I knew he was going to provide us with a great tour and he did. Will not only met my expectation but surpassed them. Every person in our group left more enlightened about the history of Boston and the people who shaped it into the city it is today. I never was made to feel uncomfortable, but felt pride in what my ancestors went thru to get us here, and they couldn't have done it without the help of some white people who believed ALL men were born free. Thanks Will for the history lesson I was never taught in school.

The Story of the Underground Railroad Comes Alive

This was an amazing 2.5 hour walking tour which went by so fast. I learned so much from Will Stilwell who was my incredible guide. He thoroughly knew the history of this era from the writings and letters of the time and he brought these historic events to dramatic life as if they were happening today. I couldn't help but take notes and photos because there was so much to digest and learn from him about the vast number of heroes who moved Massachusetts progressively forward. Just be advised if you have mobility issues that the walking tour requires sturdy shoes and walking on some irregular pavement. Also take a water bottle for warm days. Take this tour if you have any interest in history at all- you won't be disappointed!

Operatörens svar

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience on Will's tour, and for five stars! He is an expert historian with such an engaging storytelling style, and he is passionate about sharing historic Beacon Hill. Its stories from the Abolition Movement and the Underground Railroad make it as rich in important history as it is beautiful. We are so pleased to know Will's tour inspired notes and photos, and we hope you got some great pictures! It is worth repeating what you kindly noted for readers: Beacon Hill can be quite steep, and the sidewalks are old, so good shoes and careful walking are a must. We appreciate your recommending this tour!
