Bongawan River Cruise Proboscis Monkey, SkyMirror, Eldflugor

John our guide was excellent, he drove, he guided, he tried to lure fireflies and was expert in the wildlife we were looking at. The highlights were on the riverboats bot during the day looking for monkeys and after dark looking for fireflies, both excellent experiences despite the pouring rain. That perhaps added to the authenticity of the experience. Boeing dropped off at our hotels late in to the night was much appreciated.

The experience was very nice. Eddie made the excursion a unique moment. He took us to every corner to be able to see the animals and the fireflies and all of that accompanied by explanations that helped us understand the whole context of the city

We enjoyed our trip visiting the floating mosque, the tasting at the chocolate factory and of course the river cruise. We did see lots of macaques and some proboscis monkeys. I liked the fireflies best, because I had never seen them before. Eddie was a great guide and the food was pretty good too.

At first, I didn't receive a reply to my messages to confirm our participation and so I had to contact Viator. This tour did not do hotel pick ups and we had to go to the meeting place Citadines Waterfront. We were met by our tour guide Eddie and we rode a van. We visited the floating mosque and the chocolate house. There was a delay in leaving the chocolate house and we waited for our van for 20 minutes, as the driver had to pick up another set of tourists. Then we had to switch to another van and we lost our original seats. Anyway, John was our guide at this point. It was an hour's drive to the Bongawan river. On arrival , we were served refreshments. It was a good day for cruising around to see the Proboscis monkey and the crocodile. Then we watched the sunset at the beach and someone made a fireworks demonstration. We rode the boat again to view the fireflies. After the river cruise, we had a good dinner before heading back to KKCC and we were glad that Eddie and John took us back to our hotel and not the meeting place so that we don't have to walk at night.

A great tour, well planned with an excellent and knowledgeable guide John. On the cruise both John and Eddie ensured we all enjoyed the scenery and wildlife. Eddie gave us an insight to the monkeys, monitor lizards and fireflies. Fully recommend this trip.

After a bit of a slow start and the floating mosque and chocolate factory, the river cruise, sunset and fireflies didn’t disappoint. A wonderful excursion.

John was an excellent guide at the river cruise. The boatman Musa was equally helpful in locating the monkeys, we spotted so many. We enjoyed the day. It was magical at the end watching the fireflies.

A great group tour. The guides weee amazing. Timmy was the absolute best! Knowledgable about everything and I loved that he could explain life cycles and much more. It’s a long excursion, specially on a hot day but a lot of fun: Tip, a lot of people opted not to go inside the mosque. You are in Malaysian Borneo, embrace what it has to offer. We got to see the probiscus monkeys and the long-tailed macaque. The fireflies were a delight at night. Be prepared for a a larger group. Smaller vans of about 12-16 transport and we had 3 vans in our group. There was AC so it was comfortable

Timmy was our guide for the day and he was fantastic. Informative, helpful, enthusiastic and a sense of humour. Everyone gathered at The Shore hotel in town. 20RM from most city locations in a cab, flat rate. First we visited the City Mosque where you could choose to go inside after renting clothing. The chocolate factory was interesting as we learnt about the growing and manufacturing process. Watching the manual & intricate processes was incredible. Plus you get to taste chocolate. We then drove for about 1.5 hours to the river. It poured down and Timmy was an excellent driver. We had afternoon tea with fried banana pancake made by the local ladies. Delicious! We then headed out on the boat, in the rain (ponchos could be purchased at the jetty). Timmy and the team worked hard and we saw crocodile, monitor lizard, heron, kingfisher, egrets, monkeys and the Proboscis monkey (after a second approach). We still managed to catch some sunset before heading back to see the fireflies, followed by dinner. Again, cooked by the local ladies, it was delicious and plentiful. This was a great tour made all the better for Timmy’s caring and sharing. Highly recommended.
