Great personalized experience

I tried to book this 3 times through Viator but kept getting declined. So I just walked into the shop this morning and Lisette told me to come back at 3. I was by myself and she usually has at least 2 in a group but she accommodated me. She took me through the history of chocolate and the stages in the process. Along the way we had some chocolate tea and 2 different versions of hot chocolate. We ground cocoa beans to use in the tea and hot chocolate. I was then able to make 12 bon bons with various flavors. I left and came back in 30 minutes and they were ready’ a thoroughly enjoyable and informative experience. Lisette was wonderful.

Must do experience in Ollantaytambo

Such a fun and informative experience! We were surprised how interactive it was and how may forms of chocolate we got to make and try. We loved it so much!

Perfecto!

This class was so fun and educational! We arrived late due to travel delays, and the instructor still let us join, despite the class having started. Eliseth (I'm sure spelled her name wrong, sorry!) was kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable about the chocolate making process. She started with an explanation about the cocoa plant and how they harvest and dry the beans. Since we missed this part, at the end of class, she stopped us before we left so she could give us the explanation, which she didn't have to do, but because she is passionate about her craft, she wanted us to get the full experience. We made cocoa water, hot chocolate (with the full experience of peeling the beans, grinding them with a mortar and pestle, mixing the hot chocolate ingredients), and at the end you make your own chocolate to take home. She has an extraordinary variety of options to put into the chocolate and you can choose milk or dark. All throughout the class, she gave explanations of what step in the refining process we were currently in as well as the history of how the Aztecs and other tribes used the cocoa bean and how it's evolved into what it today. She gave instructions in both English and Spanish, and readily assisted those who needed help. Class lasted about 2 hours, and then we came back 30 minutes later to pick up our chocolate, which she bagged up for us to take home. So fun (and delicious!).

Great workshop!

Not so much a "museum" - at least at the Ollantaytambo location which is more like a nice chocolate shop - but upstairs where the chocolate workshop is held there are several interesting & informative displays that our host used. We loved getting to roast and grind cocoa beans (bought some so we can make our own fresh hot choc at home!) and taste the true pure bitter chocolate as well as the more refined final product.

Bean to Bar, a great activity!

My wife and I had an amazing time. We loved learning the history of the chocolate, and really making our own, "bean to bar" sums up the experience perfectly! We loved doing the workshop in Ollantaytambo, where we were able to easily walk to the workshop, and there were so many dinner options afterwards. We also liked getting to try the hot chocolate and cocoa bean tea, there was so much more than "just" making your own chocolate. The gift shop was also an amazing spot for us to pick up gifts for people!

Chocolate Heaven

When we arrived the reservation hadn’t shown up on her computer so she wasn’t expecting anyone but within a few minutes she had everything ready. Three more people showed up with the same situation so they joined us for a wonderful experience. We learned a lot and enjoyed tasting so many unique flavors. We did the 4pm tour which was perfect because many places close about that time. The location is within walking distance from the plaza. Great price.

Lots of fun

We had the best time here today. We did the bean to bar workshop and the lady who ran this was lovely and really good fun. We were able to try out our basic Spanish and she did the session in English for us. We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend this if you like chocolate! We were able to pick up our chocolates 30 minutes after the class finished.

Bean to Chocolate Workshop

We have a great time learning how to make chocolate from the bean! We never knew how much of a process it was. We loved the chocolates we made and bought a lot to take back with use
