Band of Brothers i Bastogne från Amsterdam
Beskrivning
På bara en dag kommer du att se de viktigaste sevärdheterna som ger ett bra intryck av Battle of the Bulge. Vi kommer att se en tysk Panther Tank, bunkern där Pattons trupper nådde Bastogne, McAuliffe Place med generalens staty och en Sherman Tank, Mardasson Memorial med det ikoniska Bastogne War Museum. Naturligtvis besöker vi rävhålen i Easy Coy, 506PIR, 101st Airborne Division, den berömda Band of Brothers och byn Foy, tagna i januari 1945. Men kom ihåg att det är 3,5 timmars bilresa till Bastogne utan trafikförseningar. Vi tar en fika och guiden tar med sig en burk kaffe och lite vatten på flaska.

Du kommer att se en stor samling objekt, bilder, kartor, förklaringspaneler, displayer och animerade diorama. Det är ett modernt museum som tilltalar alla. Vi kommer också att besöka Band of Brothers rävhål i Bois Jacques.

Från Bois Jacques kommer vi att följa i fotspåren av Easy Company, Band of Brothers i byn Foy. Därifrån kör vi till Grandmenil. Vid Grandmenil stoppades framryckningen av den tyska spjutspetsen 2:a SS Panzerdivision. Denna Panther-stridsvagn vittnar

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about military history. He made some really great recommendations on further reading and understanding of the battle.

Jip is a great tour guide and driver. He drove my wife and I from Amsterdam to Bagstone. We had a great tour and discussion during the drive from military to general history of ancient and modern Europe. Highly recommend Jip and this tour!

Jip Meijer was fantastic. He gave us detailed explanations complete with pictures and maps. This is the second visit to a WWII sight in less than a year with my teenage kids and both times we did a tour like the one Jip did and they were engaged from the start. My recommendation would be to stay the night down there and really take in all the culture, sites and restaurants but a day trip from Amsterdam or Brussels is very doable if that’s all the time you have.
