Börja vid Baatara Gorge – det häpnadsväckande vattenfallet med tre broar som stoppar alla i deras spår – och upptäck sedan de högt belägna sjöarna i Aaqoura, undangömda i de libanesiska bergen dit de flesta turister aldrig vågar sig. Avsluta dagen i Batroun – en av Libanons mest kylda kuststäder, med en fenicisk havsmur, stengator och några av Medelhavets bästa färska skaldjur. Tre helt olika vibbar. En stor dag. 09:00 – Avgång från Beirut Din chaufför hämtar dig från ditt Beirut-hotell och kör norrut till de libanesiska bergen – staden försvinner bakom dig när vägen klättrar mot Tannourine och dagens första naturliga underverk.
Baatara Gorge — tre broar, ett vattenfall, noll ord Inget förbereder dig för Baatara. Ett 255 meter högt vattenfall faller genom tre naturliga kalkstensbroar – ett geologiskt fenomen som inte finns någon annanstans på jorden – och försvinner in i mörkret i klyftan nedanför. Gå ner till utsiktsplatsen, känn sprayen, hör vrålet och försök ta ett foto som gör det rättvisa. Du kan inte — men du kommer att försöka ändå. På våren när snösmältningen går hårt är vattenvolymen svindlande. Även på sommaren är klyftan dramatisk och promenaden ner är värt varje steg. En av de mest fotograferade naturplatserna i Libanon och en av de enklaste att förstå varför.
Från ravinen kan du bege dig till Aaqoura – ett högt beläget bergsområde som de flesta Libanonbesökare aldrig hittar, vilket är precis vad som gör det värt att åka. Sjöarna ligger på över 1500 meters höjd över havet, inramade av cederskogsklädda åsar och bergspanorama som sträcker sig över det norra libanesiska höglandet. Vandra längs sjöstranden, ta in reflektionerna, andas bergsluften — det är en av de platser som känns genuint utanför turistkartan trots att det bara är 30 minuter från Baatara. Perfekt för foton, perfekt för en lugn stund, och en fullständig kontrast till dramat i ravinen du just lämnade.
Gå ner från bergen till Medelhavet och anländ till Batroun — en av de äldsta feniciska städerna i världen och idag en av Libanons mest älskade kusttillhåll. Gamla stans stengator, ottomanska hus och kaféer vid havet har en helt annan energi än bergsmorgonen – avslappnad, färgglad och full av god mat. Promenera längs den uråldriga feniciska havsmuren – en 3 000 år gammal naturlig klippbarriär som fortfarande står på stranden – innan du slår dig ner för en valfri lunch med färsk mezze och skaldjur på en av restaurangerna vid vattnet. Batroun är också känt som hem för Libanons hantverksölscen om du känner för en kall en efter en dag i bergen.
Återresa till Beirut – ca 17:00–18:00 Kör tillbaka till Beirut med avlämning på hotellet – och avsluta en dag som gick från ett vattenfall med tre broar till bergssjöar till en fenicisk strandpromenad på åtta timmar.

Overall, our party felt that it was only OK, for such a long drive. We have to say however that the Baatara Waterfalls were really worth it. You must take the time to go down next to the gorge into which the water falls to appreciate the beauty. As for the Akoura lake, we were not able to go very high because of snow on the road, therefore we probably missed out on the view of the many artificial lakes. The time spent in Batroun was mainly to have lunch. We went to the Phoenician wall and walked a few minutes. Our driver was very friendly. However, based on the tour description and inclusions listed, we were under the impression that a professional guide was included. The driver did not provide much information along the way, or while walking across a historical town such as Batroun. He mainly drove us to the locations.

I can highly recommend the experience and Alfred, our guide, was friendly and very knowledgeable. The view of the lakes was amazing from the mountain top. We could also see a herd of sheep being watered. We then went on to the waterfall, I recommend good shoes the stone can be slippery. Finally we went to Batroun. We had great lemonade, saw beautiful sights and learned about the history of the city and Lebanon.
