Placeringen av Maungauika vid ingången till Waitematā Harbour gjorde det till ett viktigt kustförsvar. Det var rädslan för en rysk invasion på 1880-talet som ledde till byggandet av ett fort och de tre försvinnande kanonbatterierna utspridda längs maunga (berget).
Mount Eden är den högsta vulkanen bland Aucklands 52 vulkaner. Den är 196m hög. Från toppen kan du njuta av en spektakulär utsikt över staden och dess hamnar.
Cornwall Park är den största vulkanparken i Auckland. En annan park är också inne i Cornwall Park som är "One Tree Hill" Det finns många träd och djur i denna park. Du kan känna den fantastiska naturen inne i stadskärnan.
Holy Trinity Cathedral är världens enda arkitektoniska exempel på en Stillahavsgotisk katedral. Du kan känna en känsla av storhet och skönhet på en gång. Du kan också se St. Mary Church som nästan uteslutande är gjord av hjärtat Kauri, ett inhemskt trä från Nya Zeeland, och är en av få timmerkyrkor i världen byggd i gotisk stil.

Auckland War Memorial Museum är Nya Zeelands första museum. Auckland Museum grundades 1852 i en tvårumsstuga i den centrala Aucklands förort Grafton, och är erkänt för att ha nationellt och internationellt betydelsefulla samlingar.

This is actually a review of the half-day tour (see below). Well organized. It includes the highlights that you want to see when you have a short time in Auckland. Tour guide Sean was great. Friendly, accommodating, informative. We booked the full day tour, but the only difference was that was to it include a trip to the War Memorial Museum (ticket NOT included). But the vast majority of the museum happened to be closed that day. But the tour company reimbursed the difference (not including the Viator commission). Kudos to them.

Our tour guide picked us up on time from our hotel. They were exceptionally knowledgeable about local history and culture, and we very generous with their time and expertise. Our guide was amazing! She was punctual & courteous and guided as through the most amazing highlights with great knowledge of each one of them. All of it was just breathtakingly beautiful. The history of Mount Eden & One Tree Hill was very interesting. Our final stop was at the Kew Gardens showcasing a Winter Garden, the Temperate House and the Fernery. We couldn’t have asked for more. The tour was accompanied by a great guide. We never had time pressure and a lot was explained. All described points were approached. There were only two of us on the road with the guide. Finally there was a slideshow of the pictures he took with us, via WhatsApp. Really great!!

Had a blast going around with Lenna, our tour guide, who brought us all around Auckland. She was lovely and when the weather turned bad, she did everything she could to make it comfortable for us. Her charm and humour truly got to us both. She was very knowledgeable about the city, shared her own anecdotes and her own experiences with the city. Highly recommended for those who are looking to get to best bits of Auckland in a relatively quick fashion.
