Beläget mellan Akropolis och floden Ilissos, var det kolossala Olympeion ett av Zeus största antika tempel och en av de mest kända marmorbyggnaderna i den antika världen. Vi kommer att prata om templet och dess berättelser utifrån.
Den antika Atens största och finaste helgedom, som i första hand ägnar sig åt sin beskyddare, gudinnan Athena, har dominerat stadens centrum för millenia. Akropolis monument (Parthenon, Athenas Nike, Erechteion, Propylae, Dionysos teater, ...), alla unika mästerverk av antika arkitekturer, har påverkat konst och kultur i många århundraden och står i harmoni med sin naturliga miljö.
Dionysos var vinets och druvskördens gud. Dionysos teater var den äldsta som grundades i Aten; det var i denna teater som de oöverträffade verken av Aischylos, Sofokles, Euripides och Aristofanes framfördes för första gången.
Athenas tempel Nike var tillägnad gudinnorna Athena och Nike. Nike var segergudinnan i den grekiska mytologin, och Athena dyrkades i denna form, representativ för att vara segrande i krig. Det sägs att kultstatyn av gudinnan vid templet inte hade några vingar så att hon aldrig skulle lämna Aten.
Erechtheion är ett antikt grekiskt tempel byggt på Akropolis i Aten för att hysa den antika träkultstatyn av Athena och i allmänhet förhärliga den stora staden på höjden av dess makt och inflytande.
Parthenon är ett tempel som dominerar Akropoliskullen i Aten. Den byggdes i mitten av 400-talet f.Kr. och tillägnad den grekiska gudinnan Athena Parthenos ("Jungfrun Athena"). Templet anses allmänt vara kulmen på utvecklingen av den doriska orden, den enklaste av de tre klassiska grekiska arkitektoniska orden.
Agoraen var hjärtat av det antika Aten, fokuset på politisk, kommersiell, administrativ och social aktivitet, det religiösa och kulturella centrumet och rättvisesätet.
Hephaestus magnifika tempel, ett av världens bäst bevarade forntida tempel, var platsen för dyrkan för två viktiga gudar för många köpmän och affärsägare till den gamla agoraen: Gud Hephaestus, beskyddare av alla metallurgister och gudinna Athena Ergani, skydda alla potter och stugbranschen.

Our guide, Dora, captivated the imagination of our six grandchildren and held their attention for nearly three hours—a remarkable accomplishment. This was a great experience! Our tour guide Vikki was very knowledgeable and experienced. This tour was a great way to see the connection of the gods and goddesses and the places created for them. We had a great experience with Michael on this tour! He was great at pacing through all of the many sights, so we never felt rushed or like we were waiting. He was great at telling all the stories and making them come alive. It was so helpful to be able to pre purchase entry tickets as well. This tour will let you see all the main historic sights with entertaining background. Highly recommended!

**Athens, a city where history meets modernity!** I was pleasantly surprised by Athens. The city offers a unique blend of incredible historical sites, such as the Acropolis and the Pláka neighborhood, and a modern vibe with numerous cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. The locals are welcoming, the Greek cuisine is excellent, and the sunsets from the heights of the city are magnificent. Walking through the streets allows you to discover both iconic monuments and lively, charming neighborhoods. I recommend planning at least 2 to 3 days to enjoy the main sites while taking the time to savor the local atmosphere. Despite the tourist crowds in high season, Athens remains an authentic destination that is well worth the detour. An experience that I recommend to anyone who wishes to combine culture, gastronomy, and sunshine.
Very family friendly tour. Our 8 yo and 12 yo enjoyed the tour, the mythology stories kept them engaged. The pace was reasonable and our 5 yo was able to keep up easily. We stopped multiple times for bathrooms, water, and gelato.
We went to Athens for a couple of days and went on a tour with Vassia. She explained in French ( for us French people) the myths and history of the city and it was really amazing. She was captivating and explained some stories in really fun ways, we were always waiting for the next one. We went to the acropolis and the agora it was great. Thank you Vassia!
