Basilikan Santa Chiara byggdes på motsatt kulle till basilikan San Francesco. De två basilikorna, med fasader inspirerade av romansk modell, tycks föra en dialog genom sin enkelhet. Båda har en triangulär tympanum och ett centralt rosfönster som symboliserar en andlig omfamning mot pilgrimerna som passerar genom gatorna i Assisi.
San Rufinos stiftsmuseum och krypta ligger i Assisi, bredvid San Rufinos katedral, och är ett utrymme rikt på historia och helig konst. Museet är inrymt i medeltida rum, inklusive inredda rum och antika kloster. Inuti visas heliga konstverk från katedralen och kyrkor i området.
Helgedomen ligger på den plats som traditionellt identifierats som födelseort för Saint Francis. År 1615 förvandlade Friars Minor, tack vare finansiellt stöd från Filip III, kung av Spanien, detta utrymme till en kyrka, vilket startade samhällsliv och liturgiska fester.
Rocca di Assisi är ett befäst komplex som bildas av två huvudstrukturer: Rocca Maggiore och Rocca Minore, även känd som Cassero di Sant’Antonio. Båda är gjorda med den typiska rosa stenen av Assisi.
Alla huvudvägar som leder från stadsportarna sammanstrålar på detta torg. Torget byggdes på ett antikt Forum Romanum som används som ett offentligt rum och centrum för politiska och sociala aktiviteter. Under medeltiden uppstod de viktigaste offentliga byggnaderna, såsom Minervatemplet, det första sätet för kommunen Assisi, Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo och Torre del Popolo.
Palatset byggdes i slutet av 1200-talet och ritades som säte för Capitano del Popolo, en figur som representerade kommunen Assisis makt. Capitano var ansvarig för att upprätthålla ordningen och skipa rättvisa, en central roll i stadens medeltida politik.
Det arkeologiska området på Forum Romanum i den antika staden Asisium ligger under den nuvarande Piazza del Comune och upptäcktes tack vare utgrävningar utförda av en fransk arkitekt under första hälften av 1800-talet. Idag är det möjligt att besöka den genom att komma åt kryptan i den tidigare kyrkan San Niccolò, som ligger på Via Portica.
Denna plats byggdes 1457 på order av brödraskapet Sant’Antonio Abate och San Giacomo, det skapades för att tillåta pilgrimer som var värd i det närliggande sjukhuset att delta i religiösa aktiviteter.Interiören har en kvadratisk planlösning, med ett kryssvalv och freskmålade väggar.
När den helige Franciskus dog 1226 beslutade man omedelbart att bygga en basilika till hans ära för att innesluta hans reliker. Den 15 juli 1228 utropade påven Gregorius IX, en vän till den helige Franciskus, honom till helgon och lade samma dag den första stenen i basilikan, som skulle byggas på en kulle nära Assisi, mot norr. I found the tour difficult to use and limited in the information it provided. It was confusing to go between the locations and I got lostbecause it did not directly show them on a map. And when I went to my Google maps, I then often lost my place in the tour. Because attractions are far apart and frequently involve many stairs and I was walking in the hot sun, it would’ve been helpful for the Guide to explain the route before starting off to that location. Luckily, most of the cathedrals also had some signs with explanations in English but I felt I missed out on importantinformation I would’ve had with an actual live tour guide. And I almost missed seeing some of the main things because they were not mentioned. I have used audio guides for other places that were far superior. I would have liked more information about the important places and to skip the restaurant recommendations.
It was OK for the money but I expected more detail about the decoration of the different churches especially St Francesco.

I really liked this guide’s information and structure. The information was succinct and informational, without taking up too much time over explaining unnecessarily. The locations it took me to were ones a lot of guides didn’t mention, or I didn’t think about. Great value for the price. However, I do feel that the website and style was outdated. The google map that was used was an older version, I would have preferred it to work in the Google Maps app. I ended up transcribing all the locations into the app for a better functioning route. TLDR: liked the actual tour, the website could use some updating work.
It’s a great way to see Assisi but it requires internet. Some areas of Assisi have weak internet and you lose the connection.

Some people in our group had trouble with loading/reloading the audio. The reason I am rating as just average is because the content was more general in nature. I would've liked more specifics/details about what I was looking at for the stops on the tour. Overall it is a good value for the price and allows you to have a more relaxed experience to tour Assisi.
This is the third tour I've taken with Walking Cap. All three were very informative. It took a little time to figure out how to use the app, but once I did it was easy. Walking Cap is a very I expensive alternative to a full on tour. The nice thing is you are not on the tour guides schedule. If you want to eat you can. If something different catches your eye, you can go explore. I will definitely use it i. The future.!
Very nice, intuitive and easy. We liked it: the guide includes the map, audio and texts. I would add a few more stops.
After some initia confusion over how the app works and if we could use it in a poor internet/phone signal area we actually found that our fears were unfounded. The Information was complete, but concise and it was great that we could do the tour at our speed.
