Basilica of Saint Clare är en kyrka som är dedikerad till och innehåller resterna av Saint Clare of Assisi, en följd av Saint Francis of Assisi och grundare av de fattiga damernas ordning, känd idag som Saint Clares order.
Upprättad 1615 på resterna av en byggnad som trodde vara hemma för St. Francis. Byggnadens arkitekturdesign är från renässansperioden. Fasaden, byggd av tegelsten, är uppdelad av fyra pelare som stödjer en Doric entablature, med vindenergi, ovanför vilken stiger en hemisfärisk kupol.
Beläget på platsen där det antika Forum Romanum stod, dominerat av den imponerande Rocca Maggiore, börjar det rektangulära torget i slutet av Corso Mazzini som förbinder det med basilikan Santa Chiara. Omedelbart till höger kan du beundra 1500-talets "fontän med de tre lejonen", som återbesöktes 1762 av Giovanni Martinucci.
Minervas tempel är en gammal romersk byggnad. Det finns för närvarande en kyrka, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, byggd 1539 och renoverad i barockstil på 1700-talet. Templet byggdes i 1: a århundradet genom vilja av Gnaeus Caesius och Titus Caesius Priscus, som var två av stadens quattuorviri och finansierade också byggandet.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed spending the time with her. It was, as advertised, a small group - just our family - which allowed for a lot of interaction. Lots of people, especially at the basilica, but an enjoyable experience.
