Under denna dagsutflykt från Rom får du chansen att resa till riktigt Italien, långt ifrån de moderna motorvägarna och de stora städerna, i hjärtat av Umbrien, där små gamla byar väntar på att upptäckas. En av dem är Assisi, en oas av konst, arkitektur och andlighet och hemmet för Saint Francis, en av Italiens mest älskade helgon.
.Förläggning av Rom i nordlig riktning, kommer du att korsa Teves dal, som passerar typiska medeltida byar som Deruta, Todi e Perugia innan de anländer till Assisi. Här kommer du att starta din promenad genom de smala gatorna i byn för att se kyrkan Santa Chiara, innehållande resterna av Saint Clare, en följd av Saint Francis och grundare av de dåliga damernas ordning och sedan för att se huset där St Francis föddes och tillbringade de första åren av sitt liv.
Alla vägar tar dig till basilikan San Francesco. Denna grandiösa och gorgeously utsmyckade basilikan är ett ganska obekvämt minnesmärke till en man som predikade och levde ett enkelt liv av fattigdom, avhållsamhet och avståelse av världsliga varor på jakt efter större andlighet. Det är dock en av världens mest underbara möten mellan religion och konst. Unika målningar av Cimabue, Pietro Lorenzetti, Simone Martini och Giotto har gjort Basilica of St. Francis till en grundläggande referenspunkt för utvecklingen av italiensk och europeisk konst och arkitektur.

Do not recommend this trip. The driver arrived late, unprofessional and fell asleep consistently on the way home. He was a nice guy and drove us to top of the place to make walk better but overall the trip was not informative nor professional. Assisi was nice but we didn’t learn anything at all. I would not recommend this trip with this company.
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish! We took two tours — one to Assisi and another to Pienza and Montepulciano as well as an airport transfer, and we were so lucky to have Costinel as our driver throughout. Costinel was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and a real pleasure to spend time with. He made everything feel easy and comfortable, shared great recommendations along the way, and never made us feel rushed. He truly helped make the entire experience relaxing and enjoyable. I can’t recommend this company highly enough and especially Costinel. He was exceptional!!

Visiting Assisi in general was very enjoyable. We knew that each of the sites represents will tell a special moment in history for catholic in christian faith. Being there was a blessing!! In addition, Fabio, our tour guide, was exceptional! He was very knowledgeable of the region of Umbria. As we were passing through the various towns, he was sure to explain the details about each one of them. Most of all, Fabio was very accomodated and sensitive person, especially with our nephew who is handicapped. Finally, having lunch at the restaurant that Fabio recommended was unforgettable! Truly Italian pasta, lamb, and more. Thank you Fabio!

It was an incredible day beginning with a prompt departure. Our driver Matt / Mathew was professional, knowledgeable and engaging. He helped us plan our time in Assisi, suggested possible schedule and took us to the burial place of one of our newest saints, Carlos. Our day trip to Assisi was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We enjoyed the drive through the beautiful countryside in Umbria. Assisi was more amazing than we could have imagined, a stunning city on a hill with so much religious significance. Our driver, Ricardo, was excellent. He first drove us to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels because it was a few miles outside of Assisi. Ricardo then dropped us off in the middle of town and gave us very good directions on how to access the other three basilicas and where and what time to meet him for our return to Rome. We had plenty of time to visit the three basilicas, eat lunch, shop and take in spectacular views. Ricardo even kept in touch with us to make sure things were going well. On the return trip, Ricardo stopped at a perfect spot for photos. It was a perfect day!

We spent a really pleasant day in Assisi. Matteo, our guide, was punctual, patient and always available to adapt to our needs. At lunch he took us to a restaurant frequented by locals, with homemade cuisine, authentic and delicious. We enjoyed one of the best tiramisu we have ever eaten! Experience highly recommended. We were picked up right on time at our hotel for a day trip to Assisi. Our driver had no problem pulling off the road for a bathroom break. He was very knowledgeable about Assisi and gave us advice on how to get the most out of our day.
