Besök soluppgången utanför Angkor Wat med in i det stora templet i mörkret från västra sidan och njut av atmosfären av gryning i Angkor, från kanten av en av de gamla bibliotekens pooler. Tillbringa din dag med tempelhopping med din lokala guide för att få ut det mesta av ditt besök i det världsberömda Angkor-komplexet, byggt mellan 9 och 13 århundraden när Khmer-imperiet var det främsta inflytandet i Sydostasien.

Vi börjar med en dag före avresa (4.30 till 4.45am beroende på årstid) från ditt hotell för soluppgång utanför Angkor Wat. Gå in i det stora templet i mörkret från den lilla besökta östra sidan, och krypa längs gränsöverskridande korridorer förbi den längsta sträckningen av basavlastningsutklippningar i världen.
Angkor Thoms södra port är den bäst bevarade. Det närmar sig från utsidan via en vattendrag som sträcker sig cirka femtio meter över en vallgrav. På vardera sidan av korsbanan är räcken formad med 54 stenfigurer som är engagerade i utförandet av en berömd hinduisk historia: Mythen av Havets Raktning. På vänster sida av vallgraven drar 54 'devas' (skyddsgudar) huvudet på ormen 'Shesha' på höger sida. 54 'asuras' (demongudar) drar ormens svans i motsatt riktning. I denna myt insveptes ormens kropp runt det centrala berget. Meru-kanske motsvarande här till Bayon tempel i mitten av webbplatsen. Under alla omständigheter berättar myten att när devas drog ormen i en riktning och gudarna drev in i den andra började havet att kura och fälla ut elementen. Genom att växla fram och tillbaka, var havet "mjölkat" och bildade jorden och kosmos på nytt.
Angkor Thom är den majestätiska platsen som en gång tjänstgjorde som Khmer-rikets glittrande huvudstad. Ta en stund att överväga sin grandiositet innan du vågar inuti staden. Anländer till templet vid Bayon, uppskattar sina vackert utformade centrala torn som är täckta i mer än 200 enorma ansikten.
Den 350m långa Terrassen av Elephants användes som en jätte granskare för offentliga ceremonier och tjänade som en bas för kungens stora publikhall. Den har fem outworks som sträcker sig mot Central Square-tre i mitten och en i varje ände. Den mellersta delen av hållväggen är dekorerad med livstidsgaruda och lejon; mot båda hållen är de två delarna av den berömda paraden av elefanter komplett med sina Khmer mahouts.
En av de mest atmosfäriska av alla tempel i Angkor. En gång hemma till 2.740 munkar ser Ta Prohm idag mycket ut som det gjorde i början av 1850-talet, när franska utforskaren Henri Mouhot "rediscovered" denna smullande plats. Efter att ha utforskat det labyrintiska interiøret i Ta Prohm, återvänder till ditt hotell efter en lång men fulländad dag, vilket kommer att ge dig en livstid av minnen av en av världens underverk.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sopheap Rath (our tour guide) and Sambath (our driver) during our Cambodia trip. We had a guided tour by Sam and his driver Da! It was just amazing, he showed us the best spots instead of all the tourist spots! It was impressive how much knowlegde Sam had on both the temples as well as the Khmer history. I would recommend him for sure! A 10/10 experience. And he was a great cameraman as well!!

Sok was an exceptional tour guide for our Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour. He is very knowledgeable on all the temples and sites we visited and of Cambodian history generally. This tour was awwsome! Watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat was absolutely breathtaking, but what really made the day unforgettable was our amazing guide, Sam, and our driver, Mr. Ha. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. As we walked through the temples, he shared fascinating stories and historical details that brought each place to life. He also planned the route perfectly, making sure we avoided unnecessary walking in the heat while still seeing all the highlights. We learned so much and enjoyed every moment. Mr. Ha was equally fantastic. He was always there waiting for us at each temple exit with cold water and refreshing towels, which made such a difference during the day. It is a must do experience!

Sam was a great tour guide who took us to a great spot to watch the sunset overlooking Angkor Wat. Seeing the different temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, and Ta Prohm was amazing. Sam had a lot of details to share and made it interesting with his story telling. He even added some details about the culture of Cambodia which was nice to learn. He's also great taking photos and knows all the good spots. I highlight recommend this tour! To top it off, our driver Ha was amazing and so attentive. Every time we got on the bus he had a cold towel and water ready for us.
