Angkor är därför en viktig plats som exemplifierar kulturella, religiösa och symboliska värden, samt innehåller hög arkitektonisk, arkeologisk och konstnärlig betydelse.
Angkor Thom, bokstavligen: "Stora staden", innehåller flera av de must-see templen och antika platser, inklusive Bayon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King, Baphoun Temple och många fler. Det är ett måste-besök på en resa till Siem Reap och dess antika tempel.
Bayonens mest utmärkande kännetecken är Buddhas mångfald av fridfulla och leende stenansikten - förmodligen modellerad efter ansiktet av kung Jayavarman VII - på varje sida de många tornen som sticker ut från den övre terrassen och samlas runt dess centrala topp.

Ta Nei-templet är ett mycket litet och sällan besökt tempel. Bristen på andra besökare är en av många anledningar till varför du bör besöka detta fantastiska tempel.
Byggt från 1186 och ursprungligen känt som Rajavihara (Kungens kloster), var Ta Prohm ett buddhistiskt tempel tillägnat modern till Jayavarman VII. Det är ett av få tempel i Angkor-regionen där en inskription ger information om templets anhöriga och invånare.
Banteay Kdei, ett massivt buddhistiskt kloster från senare delen av 1100-talet, är omgivet av fyra koncentriska murar. Var och en av dess fyra ingångar är dekorerade med garudas, som håller ett av Jayavarman VII:s favoritteman högt: Avalokiteshvaras fyra ansikten.
Prasat Kravan-templet är ett hinduiskt tempel från 1000-talet tillägnat VIshnu. Det är ett relativt litet tempel jämfört med andra tempel i parken.

Good trip, but could be better described that the guide was not with into the temple, so had to hire a new guide inside. Would have been cheaper to rent tuktuk from the hotel

Soppal and Titiya were great guys and took us where we wanted to go. The temples close at 6pm beware of that! But after 5:40 is free Make sure you cover knees and shoulders or you can’t go in

Great tuktuk transportation through Angkor Wat. Sophal was very well prepared with towels and lots of water. He recommended a tour guide for $60 but I opted to do my own self paced tour with an audio guide and had an amazing time. Definitely need to book transportation between temples as it is quite a walk between them. Highly recommend this one as it was very accommodating, didn’t rush me and let me take it at my own pace which I really appreciated.
