En privat, helt personlig dagsutflykt till födelseplatsen för moderna OS och till ett av de vackraste områdena i Grekland, antika Olympia. I komforten och lyxen hos våra helt nya Mercedes-bilar gör vi ett kort besök på Corinth Canal, ett fantastiskt tekniskt mirakel. Vid ankomsten till antika Olympia vandrar du vid resterna av Philipio, den enda runda byggnaden från de grekiska antiken, det storslagna Zeustemplet där den gigantiska Zeus-statyn stod i 800 år, gick genom en rund grind som en forntida idrottare och går in i OS Stadion, se på nära håll Phidias verkstad och beundra unika mästerverk av antik konst som Hermes of Praxitelis på plats-museet. Lunch i den pittoreska byn moderna Olympia för att smaka på det lokala köket. Vår returresa till Aten, vi tar en annan väg och reser vid havet genom små byar och stannar vid den imponerande Rio Antirrio Bridge. Vi lämnar Aten genom att korsa motorvägen till Korint. Isthmus of Corinth är en smal remsa som förbinder fastlandet Grekland med Peloponnesos, medan kanalen som borras tvärs över den förbinder Saronic med Korintiska viken och därmed förbinder Egeiska havet med Joniska havet. Isthmus längd är cirka 6 kilometer och den smalaste punkten är där Korintkanalen har borrats (1880 till 1893).
Olympia är en av de mest kända turistmålen i Grekland. I västra Peloponnesos, i "gudarnas dal", ligger den mest berömda helgedomen i antika Grekland och födelseplatsen för de olympiska spelen. Du har möjlighet att besöka den arkeologiska webbplatsen. Platsen för Olympia har varit bebodd sedan förhistorisk tid. På 1000-talet f.Kr. blev Olympia ett centrum för tillbedjan av Zeus. Altis - gudens fristad - har en av de högsta koncentrationerna av mästerverk från den antika grekiska världen. Förutom tempel finns resterna av alla idrottsstrukturer som uppfördes för de olympiska spelen, som hölls i Olympia vart fjärde år med början 776 f.Kr. När du kommer tillbaka kan du äta lunch på en typisk lokal restaurang.
Rio - Antirrio-bron är en av världens längsta flerspännskabel - stannade broar och längsta av den helt upphängda typen.Den öppnades en dag före sommar-OS i Aten 2004, den 12 augusti 2004 och användes för att transportera OLYMPISKA FLAMMEN. den totala kostnaden för bron var cirka 630 miljoner euro. Andra källor talar om 839 miljoner euro.

It was worthwhile seeing the birth place of the Olympic Games. The tour operator via its driver (Petros) was an encyclopedia regarding ancient Greek culture and history. My only issue with this tour is that drive to the site takes a good four hours or so each way from central Athens; needless to say you’ll need a full day to complete this activity.

Great tour to see the site of the Birthplace of the Olympics. The drive from Athens to Olympia was beautiful. The museum and archeological site are fabulous. Our driver Tolis was amazing! He was friendly and informative and made the experience even better with his conversation and expert local advice.

The reviews are TRUE. This is the best company for your touring from Athens, Greece. The drivers are always attentive, friendly and helpful. We selected the Olympia Tour and also stopped at an Olive Farm near the Olympia site. On the road back to Athens our driver suggested interesting sites for short sight-seeing and beautiful vista locations. We ended the evening at a nice Greek Restaurant.
