We ended up not able to use this terrible HOHO service because what is not mentioned is each bus stop is a 30 to 45 minute wait on the bus and boats. It is not really a way to explore Amsterdam as it would literally take you all day to make it through all the stops. I am guessing they do not have enough boats, buses or drivers and/or do not want to spend expensive gas running them. We could not get a refund even though we did not use the tickets. Do yourself a favor and download the Amsterdam public transit app. Much cheaper, flexible and faster way to see the city.
the hoho bus was okay however, the hoho boat was disappointing! it only ran for the first day(24hrs) and did not operate the 2nd day! company claims a "special parade celebration" was happening on the river so not able to operate their boats. however, many other boats and other company boats were running and sailing that same day!!??
No one stopped to let us hop on at stop 2. We waited 2 hours. Poor app, poor communication. Poor captain.
audio system did not work so we knew nothing about where we were Almost all locations , museums were closed
Very little narration, so we learned virtually nothing about Amsterdam. The drive through the city was very fast and jerky no time to see anything along the way to the stops.
I got the hop on hop off boat and bus tour. The boat tour was not available the day I wanted because of the World Pride canal parade. That is something they should have made me aware of.
The Hop On Hop Off bus experience was OK as we got to see and experience what we had set out to do but the Hop On Hop Off canal boat experience was better as our tour guide was thorough yet funny in what he showed us and its significance and answered any questions we had. In a city like Amsterdam with a lot of canals, a traveler should do both.
They don't start running until 10:00am and there are no signs or bus stops labeled for hop on hop off.

BE AWARE and STAY AWAY!! I went to a stop and bought a ticket from the seller (agent) Augustina Boucherie. He is slick and will DOUBLE CHARGE you. He quoted me the correct price, I paid by card. He printed the receipt, folded it up and told me to me sure to save it. I put it my pocket. When I went to the boat, I discovered he had charged me for 2 people! This was a DOUBLE CHARGE!! The quote was for one. I was standing alone, got on the bus alone, yet was charged for two. I then got a run around from City Sightseeing Tours and Tickets as I attempted to get the refund I was entitled to and ended up walking all over town to several locations with no luck. I finally was sent to the original stop to talk to the agent who sold the ticket. He didn't remember me UNTIL I told him what he had done and asked for a refund. ONLY THEN did he apparently recognize me and told me I had been with a man when I bought the ticket. I am a senior, solo and recently widowed traveler so no man was there. He got very nasty and disrespectful and accused me of being a scammer and liar and told me he had watched me hangìng all over this man. He continued to bully me and then the driver, who I had never seen before, got off the bus and started to verbally attack me too and accuse me of horrible things I can't even repeat. So two men standing there attacking a senior solo traveller over there overcharge. Another agent stepped in and told them he would handle it. He said they couldn't refund but to email this address he gave me. I walked away in tears and shaking at the abuse snd name calling and unrectified DOUBLE CHARGE!. I emailed the address given. It was answered immediately by an AI developer person with the company, but he referred me to yet another email address. I emailed thst address, but there has been no response! Do yourself a favor. STAY AWAY FROM CITY SIGHTSEEING (Tours and TIckets) IN AMSTERDAM!! (One ladt interesting pount. They do not scan or check for tickets at any of the stops by bus or boat so anyone can just walk on without a ticket.)
