The museum is a bit crowded and the layout isn't easy to navigate (to find works in order by date and importance). Our guide made it seamless and got us around to the significant works and told the story of Vincent's life. She really made the experience come alive!
Fannie provided a very insightful and detailed tour. It was really captivating learning the history of Van Gogh, the love in his family, and the nuances that came to his art, to the point I didn’t even realize time was up on the tour. You can hear Fannie’s passion come through in her delivery and I highly recommend her services. Definitely booking through Amor Artium when I return for the Rijks museum!

This was an outstanding tour by Amor Artium!!! One of the best I've been on in my travels. My guide was well spoken, very knowledgeable, and able to answer all my questions, since she had an art history background. Her knowledge and storytelling brought the Van Gogh experience into sharp focus using various paintings to illustrate her points. I highly recommend this small group tour!!!

Lucy was our guide. She was absolutely delightful and professional in her demeanor. She was well versed in Van Gogh both as an artist and as a person, bringing his story to life. We would all be a little happier in our lives if Lucy were our guide.
Our tour guide was wonderful. He is an art historian and artist, and brought that perspective to the tour. We enjoyed his stories about Van Gogh and his family and the evolution of Van Gogh’s art. Although we know little about art, we thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it.
We loved our tour of the Van Gogh Museum with Lucien! The way he told about Van Gogh’s life and the progression of his art using specific examples of his paintings really brought Van Gogh’s story to life for us! Even the art novices in our group were completely engaged. We got so much more out of this tour than if we had been using the self-guided headsets and we chose this tour specifically because Amor Artium’s guides are art historians. We spent a few wonderful hours with our delightful guide Lucy, who walked us through the remarkably intense life and struggles of Vincent van Gogh. Through her considerable knowledge, Lucy took us on an artistic development journey of Vincent’s work, from his early sketches and then onto his developing use of colors, from initially dark, then along the continuum to his most widely recognized pieces in human history. We savored every word she said, as we examined each piece of Vincent’s work. Furthermore, Lucy highlighted the ‘ brotherly love’ of Vincent and Theo and the remarkable support, both Theo and his wife Johanna, gave him, with Johanna playing a key role in the growth of Vincent’s posthumous fame. We highly recommend this tour, don’t hesitate in booking.
