På vår vandringstur använder vi historia och humor för att fördjupa din kulturella förståelse för Amsterdam och holländarna, samtidigt som du underhåller dig hela tiden. Medan vi utforskar dolda innergårdar, ikoniska sevärdheter och vackra kanaler kommer vi att väva ihop lokala tips, historiska fakta och myter på ett sätt som kommer att göra att du älskar Amsterdam lika mycket som vi gör!

Vi börjar vår tur i hjärtat av Amsterdams världsberömda kanalbälte. Här lär vi oss hur holländarna var tvungna att samexistera med vattnet och hur det har format kulturen och mentaliteten i Nederländerna genom tiderna.
Den mest kända stadsdelen i denna stad och kanske världen, upptäck historien, varför den är där, hur den fungerar och hur holländarna ser på den.
Amsterdams centrala och viktigaste torg, där vi kommer att utforska den holländska kampen mot vattnet och hur det format vår kultur och vårt sätt att tänka.
Lär dig hur och varför holländarna gick från katolsk till protestantisk på den vackra och fridfulla innergården bredvid kyrkan
Här i början av Amsterdams judiska kvarter kommer vi att dyka in i det tragiska ödet för 10 av tusentals judar som bodde i Amsterdam före och under kriget samt den katastrofala hungervintern.
Det före detta holländska östindiska företaget HQ, vi kommer att avslöja hur detta lilla land växte till ett stort imperium och tog världshandeln med kryddor i ett hörn, samtidigt som de var i strid för själva existensen och självständigheten.
På stranden av floden Amstel hittar du Amsterdams moderna stadshus, ta reda på varför lokalbefolkningen kallar det "Stopera" och varför det, trots att det är en av de fulaste byggnaderna i staden, fortfarande är en stolthet för Amsterdamborna.

My wife and I did the Hit the Bricks walking tour with another couple during a recent visit to Amsterdam. We also did their canal tour, twice, during the same visit. We enjoyed all the tours. We had 9 people in our walking tour group. Our tour guide Dave was very knowledgeable and shared his knowledge throughout the tour. We covered a lot of territory, but there were frequent stops so that Dave could talk about what we were seeing. Dave was a bit more conservative than the canal tour guides, but entertaining nonetheless. I highly recommend the Hit the Bricks tour if you visit Amsterdam, or if you live there and want to learn more about the city’s history.
Fab introduction to Amsterdam! Axel was informative, good fun and knowledgeable- what more can you ask for?! Kept us safe among the bridges and bicycles!
I had always gone to Amsterdam for specific art exhibitions and this time decided to see some more of the city. I did both an evening 90 minute canal boat tour with Those Dam Boat Guys and, another day, a 2 hour (slow walking with lots of stops) walking tour with Hit the Bricks walks, a sister company. The guides were the big draw. They were articulate, entertaining and informative. The meeting place, a 15 minute walk from the Central Station, is a comfortable office with character where water, a toilette and provisions for the boat are available. I felt at home as a solo traveler with friendly international travellers and had a great time. Small, personable groups. The only reason the walking tour isn't a 5 star is because while the Begunhof was on the walking tour description, we did not go as it was a Saturday and, I was told, far too crowded with concerts on. Oh, and if you are there on a Wednesday night, the related bar next door as open mike stand up comedy in English.
We had an interesting and useful walk with Axel. He took us to places and shared information thar were useful for the rest of the weekend. Ask him about the canals, he is really an expert. We followed his advice sbout the canalmuseum for instanse.
We , my husband and I, were lucky enough to have a private tour with David. With his background as an historian David gave us a great history of The Netherlands, the formation of the country and the development of Amsterdam both physically and commercially. We enjoyed our tour very much and recommend it and David to you. Anne & Philip Australia
Axel led our tour and he was excellent. Very informative. Axel covered a lot of ground walking and historically. I strongly recommend.
We worked with Axel at Hit the Bricks Walking tours for our small group tour in Amsterdam on Saturday, April 25th. We provided a custom walking tour through the canal belt, dropping us off at our restaurant for lunch. Axel is a great story teller and a born comedian. We can't wait to bring another group back.
We did a walking tour with David, and it was fantastic. He is really knowledgeable of history and about what's going on in the city currently. Plus he had a great personality that made the tour fun and humorous. Highly recommend.
