Resenärer som vill lära sig mer om de allvarliga ögonblicken i indisk historia kommer att hitta en mängd otroliga utställningar och information i Partition Museum of Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh och Wagah Border. Denna turné kommer att vara en 7-timmars resa in i händelserna 1947, då händelserna i Indiens division under det året orsakade ett krusning av chockerande och dyster stunder i dess historia. Därefter går du till Jallianwala Bagh, en offentlig trädgård med en dum historia. Denna trädgård gjordes för att fira Jallianwala Bagh-massakern som ägde rum i Amritsar, när trupper från den brittiska armén avbröt deltagarna i en fredlig protest. Även om det händer dagligen, fortsätter Wagah Beating Retreat Border ceremonin som ett bevis på historia, kultur och internationella förbindelser mellan Indien och Pakistan. Under ceremonin kommer du att titta på soldater från två nationer på en slags show, med sänkning av båda flaggorna och en handskakning mellan två nationer.

Jallianwala Bagh utvecklar historien om den mest ökända massakern under det brittiska styret som lämnade ett djupt ärr på indierna. Jallianwala Bagh är en offentlig trädgård belägen i den fromma staden Amritsar i delstaten Punjab. Med en enorm nationell betydelse invigdes denna minnesplats i samband med det nya året i Punjabi den 13 april 1961 av den dåvarande presidenten i Indien, Dr Rajendra Prasad. På grund av dess historiska betydelse, har Jallianwala Bagh turism lockat varje turist som besöker staten.
Partitionsmuseet är ett offentligt museum som ligger i rådhuset i Amritsar, Indien. Museet syftar till att bli det centrala förvaret för berättelser, material och dokument relaterade till upploppet efter partitionen som följde uppdelningen av Brittiska Indien i två oberoende länder: Indien och Pakistan.
Varje kväll, strax före solnedgången, möts soldaterna från den indiska och pakistanska militären vid denna gränspost för att delta i en 30-minuters uppvisning av militär kameratskap och showmanship. Officiellt är syftet med ceremonin att formellt stänga gränsen för natten och sänka nationella flaggan. Men det är en underhållningsceremoni och en uppvisning av nationell stolthet för de tusentals människor som kommer hit varje dag. Under uppbyggnaden av ceremonin deltar publiken i att sjunga den indiska nationalsången, rundor av applåder och dans i Bollywood-stil på Hindi-sånger.

My guide was very friendly but his English was not as good as others I have had during my stay in India. We started at the Gardens, ( entry free) scene of the 1919 Massacre where, frankly, had I not been aware of the history, I would have been at a loss to understand the significance. I spent two hours alone in the Partition Museum ( entry £2.50) whilst my guide showed another tour taker ( a delightful Canadian, but not of my group), the Golden Temple. To be honest, I enjoyed this more than I would have done with the guide, the Museum being well laid out, with information in English and subtitles to the videos. The Border Ceremony was fascinating: a cross between a football Derby ( think baseball caps and popcorn for sale), with Indian soldiers engaged in rifle twirling like cheerleaders and a pantomime with soldiers encouraging each side of the stadium to shout ' Hindustan' louder than the other. Guide could not accompany into the ' Foreigners' section, but no explanation was needed. Again entry was free and buses and tuk tuks leave the central square daily for the stadium. A good day but probably one I could have arranged independently.
Guide was terrible, she didn’t give her name. She was arrogant and rude and the limited information she shared was fictional as we suspected at the time and confirmed later. She appeared surprised that we wanted to visit the museum, despite it being part of the itinerary and when we visited, it was closed! She was determined to take us to a marble shop and either ignored or spoke over us when we politely declined. Instead, we went to a nearby cafe to discuss whether we wanted to continue the tour due to her attitude and lack of information shared. After she paced in front of our table, we decided to continue to the border ceremony with her, despite her telling us we needed to leave the ceremony prior to the end as she wanted to get back. We were taken to a ‘top restaurant with a famous chef in house’ which we didn’t want to go as we suspected it was the usual tourist trap whereby the guide receives commission. It was ok, full of tourists, over priced and certainly not as described. We had just wanted a local cafe but our requests were again repeatedly ignored. Very disappointed as my daughter was really looking forward to this experience and had researched the history but wanted to visit the museum and learn more from the guide. Complete rip off and avoid
Knowledgeable guide, good English, very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Well worth it! Fascinating place to visit, especially the Golden Temple and the border ceremony
Anilji was an excellent guide through both the known and unknown parts of Amritsar. We had a wonderful experience being picked/dropped, taken behind the scenes at the Golden Temple and arriving at the border at the right time. Highly recommend this tour.
