Beautiful scenery visiting the highlights of Alishan. Several stops for restroom, lunch and shopping with knowledgeable guide.
Cook Wang was our driver and guide. He did a masterful job juggling three languages (English, Mandarin and Taiwanese) for our multi-cultural group. He wove stories and legends into the hike, and was very entertaining throughout. It's a long day, with 4.5 hours of mostly silent driving, but a beautiful day in the mountains with pure air and gorgeous scenery.
If I could give higher rating than the full score, I would rate this 120-150%. Felix - the tour guide and driver - speaks both English and Mandarin. He’s like an elder brother taking care of everyone and accommodating additional stops as much as he could. We had 6 people in the tour group coming from different countries, which is just nice. We ended up with extra adventures to experience the traditional railway Bento at Fen Qi Hu (奋起湖) and tea tasting in a tea farm in the mountains. Everyone in the group enjoyed the trip very much and we appreciated Felix’s effort of making this trip so worthwhile. It was really a fun day!
After traveling in busy and hot Taiwan cities, it was such a pleasure to head into the clouds with Mr. Cook. The forest and the quaint train rides are absolutely lovely. Mr. Cook did a great job of engaging the folks on our tour with history, stories, and some fun that made for a great outing.
Beautiful day to discover the forest and its history
Thanks to our guide Mika, really amazing! Being both a driver and a guide, one person is in charge of everything, and has been patient in explaining the history, culture and various interesting little stories of Mount Ali. The driving skills are also good, the mountain roads are many turns, but the whole process is steady, reassuring. The Mika people were also warm and took care of everyone in the group and the atmosphere was always good. The whole group felt relaxed and happy playing. If you want to go to Alishan and don't want to toss traffic yourself, this group really recommends it! Five-star rating.
The day tour was the perfect experience as Alishan's forest is not the easiest to access. From the pick up in the morning, the drive to the place, the acitivies offered everything was well organised. Thank you so much to our guide Mika who was as friendly as professional. I highly recommend it!
The way all the way to top of mountain is around 1.5 hours. I got car sick because the road is winding. However the forest is beautiful. We walked to the top and took train down. They have a food court in the recreational area, you can buy local lunch there. The trip is finished at around 5PM, the tour guide will drive you back to the original place.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful forest and the overall tour experience. We appreciate your notes about the winding road and the food options at the recreational area, which will be helpful for future guests planning their visit.
We had a good tour with Terence. Pick up was on time, stuck to our schedule and enjoyable walk through the forest. Terence was very willing to go at a pace we were all comfortable with and made frequent photo stops. Weather was great which was a big plus. Only criticism was a stop at a coffee shop where a weird, overly friendly owner was serving us tea. This lady was a few cards short of a full deck, scary even. I would caution this about the tour company. We crossed paths twice with another tour group from the same company. Their tour leader was also very strange and talked non stop, making loud jokes about nonsense. I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed myself on this guy's tour, so probably luck of the draw as to your experience. I'd say, if you get the strange guide, break off and do your own thing. My understanding is he's the manager of the company?
Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour with Terence, appreciated his flexibility, and had a great walk with photo opportunities.
Our guide, Cook, paced the walk well to get us to the end before the heavy rain. He also took our photos at the best photo stops.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that Cook guided you efficiently and captured great photos at the highlights. It’s wonderful that you could enjoy the tour even with the weather.
