Kliv in i hjärtat av Aten och utforska Koukaki, en av stadens charmigaste och mest autentiska stadsdelar – inte som turist, utan som lokalbo. Det här är inte bara en matresa; det är en promenad genom min egen historia. Jag är född och uppvuxen i Koukaki, och jag kallar det fortfarande hem. Genom den här upplevelsen visar jag dig hur livet verkligen är här – förbi guideböckerna och in i stadens verkliga, vardagliga rytmer. Vi smuttar på vin som lokalbefolkningen gör, och tittar in på älskade familjeägda matställen, bagerier och delis som har stått sig genom tiderna. Du får smaka på lokala favoriter, höra historierna bakom recepten och träffa människorna som gör kvarteret så speciellt. Koukaki ligger precis under Akropolis, men det är fortfarande ett verkligt lokalt nav – fullt av karaktär, kreativitet och gemenskap. När vi promenerar delar jag med mig av personliga anekdoter, gömda pärlor och områdets mindre kända historia, vilket ger dig en djupare förståelse för Atens lokala kultur – allt medan vi äter, smuttar och promenerar.

Vi kommer att utforska Olympiou Street, den livliga gågatan med alla barer och restauranger i den mest lokala stadsdelen i centrala Aten, Koukaki. Vi kommer att prova en souvlaki eller gyros på min favorit lokala grillplats.
Vi kommer att prova ett annat typiskt grekiskt salt mellanmål, som naturligtvis är phyllo bakverk pajer. Bageriet är ett lokalt familjeföretag där jag köper mitt bröd och mina pajer i mer än 20 år. Vi kommer också att ha meze rätter på en lokal grekisk Taverna (Mousaka, Tzatziki, grekisk sallad, Gemista) och dela lokala viner som lokalbefolkningen gör.
Vi åker mot ett lokalt mikrobryggeri, där jag kommer att erbjuda dig en grekisk lokal öl. Det här stället har öl som du vanligtvis kan hitta på grekiska öar.
Självklart avslutar vi kvällen med en av mina grekiska favoritdesserter. Jag kommer också att leda dig till slutpunkten som är Akropolis tunnelbanestation och jag kommer att visa dig den vackra gågatan Makrigianni och Apostolou Pavlou, där vi kommer att ha chansen att njuta av Akropolis upplyst! Perfekt sätt att avsluta kvällen på!
Vi besöker Atens äldsta stadsdel Plaka och promenerar runt på de pittoreska små gatorna. Vi avslutar kvällen med en shot av en lokal grekisk drink på Atens äldsta destilleri.

Christina is a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. The food and drinks we had on the tour were excellent and a great variety. Highly recommend!
Christina, our guide was charismatic, charming and knowledgeable about her craft. Tasty assorted dishes were accompanied by thoughtful interaction . Koukaki is a can’t miss neighborhood with outstanding and authentic cuisine.
Just beneath the Acropolis of Athens, the neighbourhood of Koukaki is full of quiet streets, family-run tavernas, and spots you’d never stumble into without being with someone in the know. We met up with Christina, who was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable, and she led us to four local gems and into the heart of Greek home-style cooking. Since it was just myself and a family member, Christina took up on a private and customized tour! We had a variety of amazing Greek dishes I had never tasted before which included salads, mezze, slow-cooked dishes, juicy pork souvlaki in a pita, and finally, loukoumades! These are crispy little dough puffs soaked in honey and finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Think of them like Greek doughnuts! It was just a perfect way to end the meal! This was such a fantastic experience and I can honestly say that meeting Christina and travelling through Koukaki with her was one of our most memorable experiences during our stay in Athens. This is a must-do tour and I highly recommend it. 10/10 stars!

What made it even more special was the rooftop experience. The views were stunning, especially at sunset, and the atmosphere was just perfect relaxed, beautiful, and memorable. It was the kind of moment you just want to pause and enjoy. On top of that, the guide was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate. You can really feel the love and effort put into creating this experience. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to discover the city in a different way, combining great food, beautiful views, and a warm, welcoming vibe. I would 100% do it again!

One of the best and final parts of my Greece excursion was a personalized food tour by Christina and this was hands down one of the best food tours I ever had! Christina is very knowledgeable about the food and culture of Greece and told some outstanding stories during the tour! If you do not book Christina you will definitely be disappointed in any other Athens Food Tour!
This was such an immersive food tour into a different part of Athens that is vibrant and unique. Kristina was an amazing host, who clearly loves her city and the history surrounding it. We were treated to all of her favourite spots - all of which were 10/10 - where feasted on items we had never tried, like moussaka and briami, as well as more familiar dishes, like gyros/souvlaki. By the time we got to dessert, I could have rolled down the Acropolis hill. It felt like excellent value for the cost and that we were in no rush for it to finish. Thank you so much for such a fun experience. Would happily recommend.
