Mamá Nita was very knowledgeable, full of wit, and good energy.
Mama Nita was an excellent tour guide. I’ve been once before in 2019 and she shared an abundance of new information, Sha also provides a great historical context. I loved her pop quizzes!
Mama Nita was the best! Her tour was very informative, entertaining, and funny!
Mama Nita was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable and a very entertaining tour.
This tour was great! Just the right length and amount of information/stories. Mama Nita was the guide, and she’s both knowledgeable and funny. Good storyteller, including interesting history and a few jokes. Highly recommend!
Hi Beth, we’re thrilled you enjoyed the tour! Mama Nita truly brings history to life with her storytelling. Your recommendation means a lot to us; we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
Very educational. We did the 8pm tour for ambiance. Our guide was a retired history professor from Tulane, couldn’t ask for better!
Great tour…would recommend!!! Must go when in New Orleans for sure. The guide was very knowledgeable
Dede, our tour guide, was rude, insensitive, and rambled with little sense of making a story sound interesting. We were the last tour for the night and she rushed us through it. At the beginning of the tour, she walked us to the cemetery at a fast pace and as soon as we entered she scolded us for taking too long. We entered 15 seconds behind everyone else. My father, who walks with a cane, was continually asked to hurry up without considering his ability. There was a bench inside he wanted to sit on and she explained that we couldn’t because of the cemetery rules. The problem is she said it loudly, gave a lengthy explanation and this was the third time she addressed him directly in front of the whole crowd. It was awkward and felt a little aggressive. My father and daughter left the tour for obvious reasons while the rest of us reluctantly continued on. Besides the continued harassment to the rest of the tour to stay right on her heels, it was her lack of story telling skills that really made it unworthy of more than 1 star. She rambled on about facts not related to the cemetery and the other comments about the cemetery were never fully explained to understand the importance. For example, she said don’t erase any pictures taken in the cemetery but didn’t explain why. Later we looked it up and it has something to do with spirits captured in pictures being deleted. While we heard other tours laughing and having a good time with their guides, ours was a dud. All in all, it felt rushed and was told in an unorganized fashion. If you do the tour, make sure it’s not done with Dede.
