The electric canoe or rowing tour is essential in Tortuguero to sink into the forest through the canals. Departure around 6am at the foot of the hotel with an English and Spanish speaking guide. About 3h30 of adventure in search of animals: sloth, caiman, tree iguanas, monkeys, and birds onoré from Mexico, toucan, macaw, savacou, jacana, herons, anhinga... We went through Tuanis Tour for 55 dollars for two. The guide was very interesting.
A fantastic boat ride with Antonio! We got to see a lot of wildlife and he is very knowledgeable and friendly!
Very interesting boat trip! We have seen many animals! Binoculars are a must! The rain surprised us towards the end, but this did not harm the experience. Antonio is a very dedicated guide!
We saw lots of birds, caiman, toucan and different monkeys! It was very nice, thank you very much!
Our excellent experience was a result of our guide, Antonio. His experience, knowledge and positive love for Costa Rica was evident in all that he did. Communication, before, during and after our canoe tour was of the highest quality. He went above and beyond as he pre-arranged our parking and boat trips to Tortuguero from Pavona docks, met us as we disembarked at Tortuguera, and introduced us to Natalia who was our contact at Pura Natura where we stayed for our two days. He also pointed out places to eat. He took our abilities and inabilities into full consideration. The tour itself was 2.5 hours of easy paddling, education, information, sights, sounds and explanation of all the birds, reptiles, flowers, trees and insects from Antonio. His upbeat attitude was wonderful, and we could tell he loved his job. If you are in Tortuguero, ask for Antonio, owner of Tortutravel. Oh yes, he also sent us candid photos and a video of our canoe tour.
Great professional and animal lover. When things are done with passion, it shows. Antonio is an excellent guide, he is always on the lookout for clients to see as many animals as possible and to feel at ease. We would have found a better guide. Thanks Antonio!!!
A guide who is not miserly of his time and well equipped
We spent our best day in Costa Rica! Jairo knows Costa Rica, Tortuguero and its wildlife very well, the canoe trip was incredible. We saw turtles, beautiful birds and a toucan, among others. Jairo (Jairo Nature Tours) is an honest and certified guide (licensee) who made this tour truly unique.
Approx. 2.5h we went with Norton as a great guide through the canals in Tortuguero National Park. Norton explained a lot about the animals and trees we saw. You could, if you wanted, paddle or drift yourself and look for animals with binoculars. The lack of engine would allow us to enter even the smallest of canals that are forbidden for motorboats. We saw crocodiles, a sloth, lots of monkeys, caimans, lots of different birds and big lizards. It is recommended to drink enough, as well as sun protection, to take with you. We really liked it!
You have to like group trips and predetermined eating times to the buffet. Whereby everything is well organized and d the food was excellent. (Also for vegetarians! ) If you just don't want to do anything, that's right. Swimming in the sea is not allowed and is not allowed in the ylagune anyway because of dangerous animals. 2- 3 days is enough in my opinion to see a lot.
