8 dagars Kilimanjaro Lemosho-klättring

We planned this trip for several months and during that time there were some unexpected flight changes. Shah Tours and Ramon were helpful in adjusting accordingly and providing options that would still allow us to accomplish our desires. As for Kilimanjaro- the planning, execution, and communication was 5 star. This ultimately lead to a very enjoyable trip and more importantly one that was memorable in so many ways. Our guide was Mathayo and his assistant was Calvin. Both are excellent and complement each other well. Very knowledgeable and there to get you to the top SAFELY. Listen to them. Let them set the pace. We wanted to get moving faster and they asked what’s the rush? When you do the 7 day Lemosho- take your time. They’ll charm you with conversation and keep you going pole pole! David- AKA King David- chef extraordinaire. This man deserves the best chef on Kili award. Between a Kenyan, American and a Polish in our group- he made sure we were all well fed. Tasty and delicious. Lots of variety. One day, I showed him pictures of pizza I made at home. Dinner that day- pizza! He is a restaurant operator and he is AMAZING! Don’t miss out on this guy. The porters, and other support staff were also excellent. Mathayo manages them well and you can see the admiration they have for him. As for Shah Tours- here is the why for us- They are members of KPAP- an organization that believes in the fair treatment of porters. This was verified by our team of porters. They were all very enthusiastic and spoke accolades of the family owned business. They seemed to have personal knowledge of the owners- which gave us the feeling that drop top to bottom there was some transparency. Ramon who was our agent communicated frequently and communicated well. When we had cheaper quotes, we realized it meant missing some part of an experience. I’m glad we didn’t let the Pennie’s shadow our judgement. The idea of table service while you enjoy the view when you’re tired is priceless. The fact that Alex would help us pack our bags, assemble our gaiters, ask our son what he needs, and then help keep him motivated with cookies, etc. makes this experience memorable. I highly recommend this operator and the individuals mentioned above. If you ask for them, they will assemble the dream team we had. I hope your experience will be like ours!

We ventured on the 8 day Lemosho trek for a friends 60th and my 37th birthday trip/adventure. We heard about Shah Tours through friends and family who have used them as the tour/trek operator whether it’s for trekking up Kilimanjaro or safaris. From initial engagement with them a year ahead before our trip to the last day Shah Tours, its staff, tour guides and porters have gone above and beyond our expectations. From the bespoke trip/tour requirements numerous messages/comms back and forth to ensure all 10 people in our group were fully comfortable and understood what’s involved was amazing. The time we landed at Kilimanjaro airport, we were greeted by Calvin the head tour guide, our commute to our hotel/lodge was very pleasant and spacious to accommodate group of 10 people and all our luggage. Calvin introduced him self and provided brief info of what we can expect on day of landing and checking into our hotel which was then followed by a more detailed briefing with 2 other tour guides (Innocent & Richard). We checked into the hotel then were provided our detailed briefing which was very in depth and every one felt fully informed of what to expect on the days ahead. The hotel/lodge that shah tours includes in their trek package was absolutely amazing!! It felt like a private 5star tropical retreat. Just gutted we couldn’t spend more time there than couple days. (Day before and after the trek) The shah tours team also ensured that we had all the gear which was mentioned in the checklist which was provided well in advance. Where the team noticed we may have missed something that they made a note and ensured we were able to obtain them for hire. I would recommend hiring as much bulky kit/equipment from the tour company as it will save you a lot of time/space in your luggage bags and also its cost efficient of your only buying stuff just for a one off trek! Next day we set off for the next 8 days trekking up Kilimanjaro. The 8 days consisted of gradual altitude increases and to allow our bodies to acclimatise to the altitude and give us the best chance to reach the summit. The various terrain we went through was absolutely amazing and really felt like an adventure. Every step we were guided through by Calvin, Richard, Innocent, Daniel & Mattay, we couldn’t have done it without these guys and the porters they are the true heroes having to trek up themselves but then also carry the responsibility of us and our wellbeing. The porters ensured that we were very well looked after from transporting our duffle bags from one camp to another, ensuring we were fully feed and well nourished. I can’t believe how these guys do it cooking for the tourist group but then also having to take care of themselves as well. (Incredible!) We created a bond with everyone on the trek as it really felt like we were all in this together! I cannot thank the team enough as this will go down as an adventure of a lifetime and I am so glad that Shah Tours made it memorably special for us. Thank you so much and I will cherish this memory for a lifetime. If ever I am planning a return to Tanzania and thinking of my next adventure will definitely be going with Shah Tours!! 🙏🏽💙 Kilimanjaro 🏔️

Excellent company which takes care of porters while providing great service to clients. Food was great for the entire trip. Porters were some of the fastest on the mountain and very well trained. Overall, they provided great experience. I would go again with this company.

Shah tours made it easy to plan and prepare for the hike. Their Mountain guides, Calvin and Goodchance were incredible and instrumental in our success reaching the summit. The crew ensured comfortable and sanitary camping that enhanced our experience. Thoughtful dishes nourished us. We were tended to very kindly and generously. Many thanks to Calvin and Good Chance for the great support and many thanks to all the porters and the chef, without whom the success would not have been possible. I did the tour 2 weeks ago and can only recommend Shah-Tours. We (48, 51, 52, 61 years old) chose the 8 day Lemosho route and we all made it to Uhuru Peak. The equipment is excellent, and the food was sufficient and tasted good. Most of the time there was porridge, omelet and pancake for breakfast, snacks for on the go, or popcorn, peanuts and biscuits in between, rice with vegetables and chicken or beef for lunch and dinner. The tents were from Hilleberg and the sleeping bags from Marmot. Since I was still freezing at night, Shah-Tours provided me with an additional sleeping bag without further ado. I thought that was great. Communication was also very good in the run-up, so that we were able to plan this climb very precisely. It was also important to us that the porters were treated well. Every evening, we got the briefing for the next day, which was perfectly adequate. Likewise, the oxygen level in the blood was checked every evening and morning to make sure that no one suffers from altitude sickness. We felt well accompanied and in good hands at all times.

This experience was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived in Moshi everything was handled perfectly. Airport pickup was smooth, accommodations before and after were beautiful, and I can’t say enough good things about the entire crew we had with us. Our guides Calvin and Richard were so much fun and professional and made us feel completely safe. It wasn’t long before we were all best friends playing cards at night and by the end it was difficult to say goodbye because we had created such a tight bond. The crew of porters went above and beyond with everything they did. It was impressive to watch them work so hard with such positive attitudes, smiles and genuine happiness. They thought of every little detail to make us comfortable and we couldn’t have done it without them. The food was also incredible throughout the entire week to give us the energy to complete the trek. The memories made on this trip will last a lifetime and I truly hope to keep in touch with my new Tanzanian brothers. Asanti sana.

Our hike was incredible! Our hiking guides, Calvin and Richard, were extremely knowledgeable and so much fun to spend the week with. They went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, and also took lots of photos for us, which made it easy to just enjoy the hike and the scenery. The team of porters and support crew were very organized and put in extra effort into making the trip as comfortable as possible. Overall, it seemed like every detail was thoughtfully accounted for and our group was blown away by the care and attention put into the whole week. The tour company was very responsive and accommodating. We felt very lucky to have been matched with Calvin, Richard, and their team for this hike!

we went up Kilimanjaro in January 2025 with Shah tours. This was truly an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the guides (Hamza and Isaac) and crew we had 8 amazing days. Acclimatization was top, accommodation very good and food (thank you chef Juna and Ali) really helped us too. In addition, the guides were always there for professional attention but also with a lot of humor. We had a great experience to the roof of Africa.
