Detta är det högsta berget i Afrika. Det är snöklädda och världens högsta fristående vulkantoppmöten. Berget består av två vilande vulkaner (Kibo 5 895 m a.m.s.l och Mawenzi 5 149 m a.m.s.l) och en utdöd vulkan (Shira 3 962 m a.m.s.l). Ursprunget till ordet är inte välkänt men det sägs vara en kombination av det swahiliska ordet Kilima som betyder "berg" och Kichagga-ordet Njaro, löst översatt som "vithet" som ger namnet "Vita berget". Dess storlek är 1 712 km2 och förklarades som en nationalpark 1973, öppnades officiellt för turism 1977. Berget Kilimanajaro utsågs till världsarv av UNESCO 1987 och Afrikas naturliga under 2013. Klättring till toppen som är långt upp upp i himlen är det en livstidsupplevelse som ingen kan glömma. Det finns sju officiella vandringsleder för att ta sig upp och ner från Kilimanjaro: Lemosho, Lemosho Western-Breach, Machame, Marangu, Mweka, Rongai, Shira och Umbwe

A truly incredible experience. We came for the mountain, but the 10/10 service from our guides (Moses and John Bosco) their team of porters, and the Keys Hotel elevated our experience from good to spectacular.

The staff were very welcoming , made us feel safe, especially Swai and Trizer. Frank took us on a waterfall hike which was super fun.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has been a bucket list of mine for a long time, and thanks to the amazing people at Keys Tours & the Keys Hotel they made that dream a reality. I would highly recommend using them for anyone who is interested in experiencing the beautiful country that is Tanzania. Whether you too want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro or perhaps participate in a safari, or just see the country in general, you can’t go wrong using keys Tours. They sincerely care about the guest experience & want to ensure that each client has a wonderful vacation. My climbing guide (Collins) was extremely courteous & also very knowledgeable regarding the mountain, its history, & the surrounding vegetation & wildlife. The rest of the team was equally superb & the food was amazing. I think I may be the only person who actually gained weight climbing the mountain :) A few of my close friends also want to climb Kilimanjaro, and I am going to give them all my details so they too can stay at Keys Hotel & use Keys Tours & have a once in a lifetime experience.
