I would highly advise anyone NOT to use Mahi Mahi Fishing Tours. Do not even consider them, they are undependable and left us walking 1.5miles in 100 degree heat and never bothered to answer their phones or leave us a voicemail. Stay Away from Mahi-Mahi, use anyone else. We booked a Charter on February 7, 2019 and placed the deposit of $150 to secure the charter for the Charter date of July 1, 2019. We exchanged a few emails with Captain Bartolo during the time leading up to the July date. We arrived on July 1st and followed the email instructions and walked almost 1.5 miles in over 100 degree heat to where he was supposed to pick us up. The local tourism and guides kept asking us if we needed anything and we explained we had a charter booked. They had us provide my brothers cell phone for them to call us on the day of the charter. During this entire time my brother is calling their number and visiting their website and such and there is no answer. During this time we were talking to Julian Vargas a local guide and member of the bureau of tourism, he told us he would get a cab for us all and he would go with us to Ocean World Marine where the Mahi Mahi charter runs out of and would translate and get us our money back because it was getting to late to fish. At this point I had turned my phone on and paid the fees to get roaming service. We arrive at Charter Company and Julian goes in to find out what is going on. I finally start getting my emails and I have received one from Captain Bartolo on Saturday June 29th at 4:13pm CST which is 2 hours after we set sail and had no cell coverage. He said in his email they had mechanical issues and needed to cancel our charter and refunded our money. We went in and got Julian who told us the people at Ocean World told them that Bartolo had left the country the day before.
Dear client, We feel sorry for this misunderstanding. Safety on board is one of the most important objectives of our company, thats why we had to cancel the tour because of a mechanical issue and I had to leave to country to get spare parts asap to resolve the problem. We did everything to inform you days before but unfortunally you didnt receive well our calls and messages. We also sended your reservation deposit back days before the tour. We do apologize again and understand your disappointment and hope you understand our safety policy. Warmest regards.
This was for me 1 of the best activitys while i was on vacation in puerto plata , a friendely crew , a great capatain , a full day of exiting fishing , on this trip you feel like youre on a real holiday! recommend it to everyone
