Am so glad we did this trip. The cruise was so much better than I thought it was going to be. The boat was clean, food was great, entertainment was fun and the staff were exceptional. A huge thanks to the amazing Mahmoud Gamal, our tour guide! He was a huge part of why our trip was successful.

The Nile cruise was an excellent way to see all the amazing sites located between Luxor and Aswan. The cruise staff were all super helpful and friendly. Our guide Mahmoud Gamal was exceptional. He had us well versed on all the scamming techniques of local vendors before we visited the sites. He had an extensive knowledge of all of the sites and knew exactly the best places for photos and history. We was very accommodating and had us at some of the sites as they opened in the morning to secure the best pictures and avoid the crowds and heat.

We booked a 5 day Nile Cruise through Egypt Tours Portal. Our tour started once we arrived in Luxor and got picked up at the airport. We were taken to our boat the MY Alyssa and met Mahmoud Gamal who would be our guide for the next 5 days. Mahmoud’s knowledge and passion made combined with the sites we visited made our trip even more magical. His knowledge of Egyptian history helped us feel transported back to ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. Hw took us to sites in Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Abu Simbel and Aswan. I recommend getting Mahmoud as your guide when you visit Egypt. The MY Alyssa boat was very nice with many good choices in every meal.

We had an amazing trip with Egypt Tour Portal. They did a fantastic job getting us to and from the airport, hotels and all the amazing sites. Our tour guide Waleed Alsamman was very knowledgeable and could not have done a better job. The tours we did were excellent. You will not be disappointed if you choose Waleed Alsamman as your guide.

Accommodations were clean, cruise staff were kind and flexible, and meals offered a variety of food each day. Our guide Mahmoud Gamal started our tour with a list of ways to avoid getting conned by vendors and hawkers which made for a more pleasant trip. He provided a detailed history and description of each site and thoughtfully answered all our questions. Lots of thought was placed in ensuring a pleasant experience and it shows.

A big thank you and shout out to Mahmoud Gamal for making our Nile cruise unforgettable! Always on time, full of fascinating facts/knowledge. Mahmoud gave us helpful tips to avoid being harassed by the locals to buy souvenirs. He goes out of his way to make Egypt experience pleasant for every person. He walked 3 km out of his way to a member of the group medication. He asked nothing in return. An honest man with a kind heart. His favorite phrases are “let’s go” and “it’s your free choice”. The cruise was an excellent value. It’s an older ship with somewhat dated decor. The other suggestion I would make for The Esmeralda is to have more activities such as trivia, games, movie night on the sundeck etc. That being said, the food on the cruise was excellent and they made it vegetarian friendly. The staff and crew of The Esmeralda were nothing but phenomenal. A very enjoyable cruise Truly one of the best guides we’ve had.

The boat was great, clean, cool when you needed it. Food was decent, good selection every meal, themed meals. Mahmoud Gamal was our guide and he was enthusiastic making the history tangible and a fun experience. He cares about showing his country well.

Our tour guide, Mahmoud Gamal, was phenomenal. His knowledge about each of the sites was impressive, he was always prepared for the composition of our group, he was ready to go in the early hours to make sure we got to see all of the locations while doing our best to avoid the hot May sun. His attention to detail and his genuine care for us and the rest of the folks in our group speak volumes to his abilities as a tour guide and as a person. The cruise itself was pleasant and relaxing and the food was top notch. As a vegetarian group, the chef prepared additional special items for us without being asked or prompted and they did not disappoint. Overall this was an excellent experience and I would recommend it for anyone who is interested or may be on the fence about whether to book it or not.

We loved having Mahmoud Gamal as our tour guide! He was organized, insightful, and genuinely excited to share Egypt’s history with us. A total pro from start to finish. He brought every site to life with his energy and detailed stories. He was also very helpful and answered any questions along the way. Highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Our guide Hassan Ali showed us so many secret treasures: making history relevant, delicious local food, great shopping experiences, and a trip of a lifetime. He cared about our safety and comfort and we never felt rushed. The hotels were definitely 5 star spa like resorts. The staff were attentive, went above beyond, and spoke English.
