5-dagars Jebel M'goun-vandring

In April, my team and I completed a remarkable seven-day trek through the High Atlas Mountains, exploring the Ait Bou Oulli and Ait Bougmez valleys. Due to heavy snow and hazardous weather, we couldn’t reach the 3400m Tizi n'Aghouri pass, turning back at 3300m. Despite this, the trek was extraordinary. Our group of five, accompanied by three muleteers and our expert guide Hassan, benefited from his nearly 20 years of experience and deep knowledge of Berber culture. Hassan’s stories and insights enriched our understanding of the region’s history and traditions. The trek covered diverse terrain, including a mule river crossing, and nights spent in traditional high-altitude guesthouses like the Gîte d’Etape Tulip, where we awoke to fresh snow. Accommodations were rustic but comfortable, and the Moroccan cuisine was hearty and delicious—perfect for fueling our active days. Cultural immersion was a highlight: we visited ancient granaries, experienced village life, and learned about enduring Berber customs. Stunning panoramic views of the High Atlas accompanied us throughout. We ended the trip with an early visit to the popular Ouzoud Waterfalls, enjoying the site before the crowds arrived. The trek was impeccably organized, blending adventure, culture, and emersion in nature seamlessly. A memorable trek with a knowledgeable and personable guide, Hassan. Owing to snowy weather in the M'Goun region, we had to pivot to do a 5-day trek along the Toubkal circuit. Hassan communicated the rationale for the change beforehand, and we readily accepted it. Though not our original hike, the Toubkal circuit provided spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains from multiple angles, and it allowed us to see three different valleys along the route. Food prepared by Abdul was delicious and plentiful; each hut we stayed in had the basics we needed. Highly recommended for first-time visitors to Morocco who might want to enhance their trip with an adventure curated by an expert local guide.

A fantastic 5 days with Hassan, Mohamed and Yousef, I could not recommend this experience more! The team ensured from the very start that we had the best time possible - Hassan was incredibly knowledgable and shared lots of information, whilst also never being overbearing. The food was beautifully cooked - hiking and camping has never been more easy! The walk itself was phenomenal - particularly the day we reached the summit of M’Goun, an experience we’ll never forget. Our family of four considered doing a hiking tour in July and contacted Hassan to ask whether it would be possible – and if so, how to go about it. From his very first reply, we felt understood and in safe hands, which made the decision easy. Once in Morocco, Hassan took us on an unforgettable five-day journey into the heights of the Atlas Mountains. He and his team gave us an experience that was beautiful, safe, demanding, tasty, sweaty, freezing, and sun-drenched – all at once. Not only was the trek well organised, but every detail felt carefully looked after. The food – prepared under simple conditions by the travelling cook and helpers – was surprisingly delicious and thoughtfully served. The whole crew was just as professional and warm-hearted as Hassan himself. Hassan clearly knows the mountains well, not just through years of experience, but with a genuine love for the land and life out there. We can wholeheartedly recommend joining one of his adventures – this one, or any other he organises.

The trip to the top of Mount M’Goun was amazing in one word. Our Guide Abdoe continuously made sure we were safe and healthy. And we always had plenty to eat and drink. The contact while booking went super, via Whatsapp. All agreements were kept. A trip like this is not easy: you have to be quite fit. The conditions in which you sleep are also quite challenging. But that's part of the adventure. Listen to the company's directions for what to bring with you in items. Warm clothing, for example, is really important. The stuff that Amazing Toubkal Trek lent us (tent, sleeping bag, mattress) was clean and perfect to sleep in. It was fantastic.

We (two friends and I) did the slightly shortened version of the full M'goun trek (3 days) with Hassan as our (great!) guide and the help of Mohammed and Mohammed to take care of the cooking and the tents, carried on the backs of two mules. The hike was among the highlights of the two weeks we spent in Morocco. It took us off well-trodden routes and through some of the most stunning landscapes the country has to offer. Hassan arranged accommodation for us in a 'gîte d'étape' in the village of Arouss which was very pleasant and a perfect vantage point to start the hike. Tents on the hike were provided and very comfortable. The food that was prepared for us was great too. Hassan was very communicative and friendly and great company. I HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone looking for an adventurous and active few days in the beautiful High Atlas at a very affordable rate.
