Sarnath ligger på ett avstånd av 10 km från Varanasi lättillgängligt med vilket transportmedel som helst. På museet finns Ashok-pelaren med sina fyra skyddslejon, som används som oberoende Indiens nationella emblem. Mulagandhakuti Vihara buddhisttemplet i Sarnath är ett av templen som byggdes av Sri Lankas Mahabodhi Society 1931. Det är platsen där Lord Buddha tillbringade sin första regnperiod. Väggarna i detta tempel har vackra fresker som skildrar Buddhas liv. Det är den allra heligaste platsen för folket av buddhistisk religion eftersom Lord Buddha hade uppnått sin upplysning här under trädet. Dhamekh Stupa är platsen där Lord Buddha hade hållit sitt första samtal om Dharma.

Such an amazing tour! The tour guide was informative, funny, and considerate (always choosing shade when it was 43 degrees outside). He was so easy to understand and told everything in a clear and memorable way. For me, it was really special to hear the story of Buddhism in the country it was founded - despite it being less observed in the country today.

Brilliant guided walk around Sarnath. Our guide was able to explain the complexity of Buddism, very clearly and succinctly, he was relaxed and humorous and made the walk seem like 5 minutes. He was very knowledgeable about the subject and happy to discuss any subject relating to Indian culture and beliefs. I would highly recommend the company.
