It was amazing! Our pilot was so knowledgeable and kind! It was a great day and I’m so glad I did this!
Cmon, it’s a SEAPLANE!! Great experience!! Sam, the pilot was superb. Would have liked more than 30min on the island.
While it was fun, it wasn’t really a tour and not at all as advertised. Basically we were on a round trip of a commuter flight and the pilot happened to point out a few points of interest while picking and dropping off passengers along the way. At one point we were dropped off at a one of the harbors while the pilot picked up a couple from a cruise and gave them a tour. He then returned to get us for the flight back and again all while picking up other passengers back to the mainland. We were hoping this flight was going to be a true tour not a commuter flight.
Hello I am sorry you felt the experience wasn't what you expected. You are correct that the flight is a round trip to San Juan Island. We do pickup and drop off passengers. And as advertised, the flight is a beautiful flight by downtown Seattle and up the Puget Sound to San Juan Island which gave you time to walk around Friday Harbor for your quick visit. Many times we just have tour only passengers and the flight is the same. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Seattle and enjoy the rest of your trip.
Fields was very knowledgeable and funny. Point out tons of point of interest places. We wished we booked another flight. Definitely would do again. Fields- take us to Vancouver tomorrow! Lol
A nice excursion in a vintage seaplane for a quick visit to a small port on San Juan Island. Excellent staff.
Thank you so much for your review!
Best way to see the sound (especially after being on the water the day before). Plus an efficient excursion to do Friday Harbor in a day.
We are really happy you enjoyed your tour flight with us and Friday Harbor. Thank you again and enjoy your stay in Seattle!
Wonderful experience with the team I would recommend these folks . We did see some orca ! Very cool .
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and our tour was cancelled. We were offered the option of flying on a later date, but our schedule couldn't accommodate. The tour operator and Viator worked together to process a quick and easy refund. I'll definitely try again next time I'm in the Seattle area!
First and foremost, I would not consider this a tour. This is actually a multi-point commuter route. People live on these islands and, in some cases, the sea plane is the most efficient and cost effective means of reaching their homes to/from Seattle, or hopping between islands. With that said, the pilot is not a tour guide. He did point out a few things; although, I asked a few questions about sights which he had no idea. Our trip started with overcast skies and my wife asked if we would see anything – his answer was ‘a lot of water’. Second, do not expect warm and friendly service. The young lady who managed the terminal and traveler check in was unfriendly, bordering on rude. Our Viator booking indicated that we should arrive 20 minutes prior to departure, and we left downtown in a cab with what seemed like plenty of time, but traffic made us arrive about 5 minutes prior to departure. While in the cab with 15 minutes to departure, I received a call from the ‘check in’ lady asking where we were because check in was 30 minutes prior. Her tone was curt and I explained that we were in traffic and would be there shortly. We arrived a 5 minutes to departure, check in took a total of 20 seconds, while the lady weighed my wife’s purse. We then proceeded to wait until 30 minutes past departure due to low cloud ceilings. Despite these minor issues, we had a wonderful time seeing the area with our first sea plane experience! It is a spectacular trip to see the shore areas, landscapes, wildlife (if you’re lucky) and beautiful island destinations. We spent about an hour on Roche Harbor, with some quaint shops and a place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. But if you have the opportunity to spend time in Friday Harbor, it looks like there might be more to do there.
Great way to travel throuh the sea near seattle. Im from Iceland and there is not much seaplanes there, so going here was great. Also the views from the DHC-2 that I was on are amazing.
