Vi träffas kl. 14.00 framför katedralbasilikan i San Salvador och börjar en vandringstur för att lära oss om inflytandet och arvet från afrikansk kultur i Salvador da Bahia. Först åker vi till Terreiro de Jesus, där vi kommer att lära oss om historien om koloniseringen av detta område i Brasilien genom Jesuitmissionernas handlingar och portugisisk kolonisering. Vi kommer också att träffa några afrikanska kändisar som har arbetat i Salvador de Bahia genom historien.

Först åker vi till Terreiro de Jesus, där vi kommer att lära oss om historien om koloniseringen av detta område i Brasilien genom Jesuitmissionernas handlingar och portugisisk kolonisering.
Huset har en samling som består av cirka 200 stycken som kommer från Beninbukten, samlade av den franske fotografen Pierre Verger under sina resor till Afrika, för att studera ebb och flödet mellan Afrika och Bahia. Den har också stycken relaterade till afro-diasporisk kultur, donerade av konstnärer och institutioner.
Vi kommer att besöka Olodumskolan, ett kultur- och utbildningscentrum med afro-ättlingar där vi kommer att analysera karnevalens betydelse i staden.
San Francisco kryssning. Här kommer vi att berätta om födelsen, på 1800-talet, av en manlig organisation vars mål var att hjälpa det svarta samhället i Salvador i kampen för dess befrielse. Vi kommer också att lära oss om en annan grundläggande del av afrikansk kultur, som samba- och capoeiradanser. Rytmerna kommer säkerligen att få dig att vilja röra på fötterna!
Det afrikanska inflytandet i Brasilien framträder i språk, mat, musik, beteende och religiösa manifestationer. Kulturcentret Casa de Angola, beläget i en av de koloniala herrgårdarna, byggda på 1700-talet, grundades den 5 november 1999 med syftet att hålla liv och befästa de kulturella banden mellan Brasilien och det afrikanska landet.
Där kommer man i kontakt med verk som talar om svart identitet; om Afrika som den kontinent från vilken hela mänskligheten härstammar; frågan om handel med människor som var förslavade; av svart motstånd, quilombos och revolter. Du lär dig också om bidrag till mat, religion och populära festivaler, samt sport och musik, som är ett överflöd av matriser med samba, semba, maracatu och andra.
Syftet med denna förening är att dyrka Rosenkransens Jungfru, genom att troget följa reglerna för dess engagemang. Den ärevördiga tredje orden av Vår Frus rosenkrans vid portarna till berget Carmel – Brotherhood of Black Men är först och främst ett romersk-katolskt apostoliskt brödraskap med en afrikansk inriktning. Den har behållit, med värdighet och förnyelse, under sina mer än tre århundraden, sina egenskaper som ett afrikanskt territorium i diasporan.
Conceição Hydraulic Elevator – som har funnits i ett elektriskt system under en tid – och tidigare populärt kallad "Parafuso", var den första stadshissen i världen. När den öppnade 1873 var den också den högsta, på 63 meter. Den förbinder Bairro do Comércio med Cidade Alta, på en resa på cirka 20 sekunder. Det är då det inte är någon kö. Så, på festdagar i det området, var beredd eftersom hissen används som vardaglig kollektivtrafik av de som bor i staden.

Facundo was our Spanish-speaking guide and he was excellent. We enjoyed listening to him talk about the history of the place and all the fun facts about Bahia. He is very fond of the city. He also gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and museums. And during the tour, he was always willing to take photos of us. I would definitely choose him as a guide again.

Spectacular tour, takes you into Bahian history and culture in an express way. The guide that accompanied us, Maria, was a luxury! He not only explained every detail and answered all the questions with a lot of kindness and knowledge, but also recommended and advised us on other excursions, typical cuisine and walks. She was very attentive all the time, willing to help us, take a picture or wait if we wanted to buy something. It was certainly the best way to get to know the historic center of Salvador and its surroundings. Recommended 100%!

We did the Tour by foot Salvador and the experience was excellent. Facundo gave us a lot of historical information that helps us understand the structure of the city, as well as the evolution of it and its current identity. In addition to explaining in detail each point of the tour, he shared a lot of useful tips to enjoy Salvador beyond the tour: from little-known home restaurants to activities and places to visit that are off the historic center and off our radar as tourists. You can see his knowledge and passion for the city, after more than 16 years in it, which helps a lot to make the tour super interesting. I highly recommend doing the tour right when arriving in Salvador, because it helps to get your bearings, discover authentic corners and make the most of the rest of the trip!

We did the free tour with the guide Iara Caroline on 26/10/25 and we liked it very much. From the beginning it was passed to the group as would the tuor. The guide gave us tips on places to get to know the history of Salvador, places to eat, how to negotiate with the local merchants before accepting the services offered. Iara always very friendly, asked and showed a lot of understanding about the city. The tour is not done in many hours, but it is enough time to absorb information, know places and not get so tired or boring for the tourist, in addition to giving the same the independence to later walk better through historical places, which are countless. We recommend the tour, very well worth it.
