A walking tour to remember!

Our most special experience during our tour of Morocco! Ibrahim is an incredibly reliable, warm and friendly guide. You can ask him anything about the villages in the mountains and nature. We have learned a lot. We even watched the World Cup together in a small cafe on the mountains! Mohammed is a good cook! He made delicious tajines and it was also taken into account that I do not eat meat. We were worried beforehand that this hike would be too hot in July, but it was doable! There can even be a strong wind now and then (but we haven't been cold). Don't expect luxury stays in the mountains, because that's not how people live there. Get ready to go back to the basics. For us, this was no problem at all. I think the house we slept in was more luxurious than any house in the village where we stayed. If you're very hygiene-conscious, consider bringing your own blanket or duvet cover. The blankets are made of a fleece fabric. In addition, the roads are sometimes quite exciting (which also makes it fun). You can rent walking sticks before departure. We did not do this, but it is recommended if you have less walking experience. Some practical things: we dropped off our luggage at the start and end of the hike. After three days we could pick up our bags again, which was very nice. We took a backpack up the mountains with the things we needed during the hike. Another backpack with sleeping gear went into a large bag on the back of a mule. It took our stuff from location to location. All mer a top experience! If you love adventure, hiking, culture & nature definitely do!

Family hike around Imlil.

Zacharia our guide was very attentive to everyone's pace. He knew how to support everyone in their needs. The food cooked for each meal by the muleteers was perfect, quantity, variety, and flavors. The atmosphere with the team and the family who joined us was very pleasant. The discussions were enriching; it was a beautiful intercultural encounter. The excursion is beautiful, accessible to everyone; we go from mountain passes to rivers and villages every day around Imlil. The only downside concerns the second place to sleep, which was not very clean.

Imlil

It was a super trip; the guide is very attentive and looks after the travelers, the landscapes are magnificent. The cleanliness of the lodges needs to be reviewed.

Mountain and Berber-style flirting

These 3 days of hiking are accessible to the general public even if there are some significant elevation changes on certain parts of the route. Be sure to have shoes that do not slip! The meals are good and hearty, except for the breakfasts. The accommodations are rustic but have a beautiful view. Remember to bring your own sleeping bag liner. We did this hike in the company of Zachariah, who is a cheerful, even chatty guide who seeks to be helpful. For your information, there is no need to share your room with the guide, even if he implies that there is only one room for the group 🙄 ladies, do not hesitate to bring a wedding ring to put an end to this kind of discussion! We have fond memories of the mountains and this experience despite everything 🏔️

3 day hiking tour

zakaria was a really helpful guide who was always willing to answer out questions! there was some confusion about which tour i was about to be led to at the start, but likely a problem of his company, not him. he has a special sense of humor (that takes some getting used to) and always watched out for our safety. i thank him for a successful trip!

Poorly organised and disappointing experience

The pre tour communication was very stressful and was still trying to confirm the tour and pick up point at 10pm the night before. I had asked whether we should take sleeping bags and were told bedding would be provided. This was in fact 2 polyester blankets which was not ideal as the guest houses do not have heating at all so very cold at night in Spring. All facilities are exceptionally basic. Not a problem in itself but the guest house on second night was unpleasantly dirty. The guest houses do not provide food so we had a 'cook' come with us, but food was very basic. I did see the food another couple had with a different tour company and it looked much better. Our guide was 19 and either did not understand English well and/ or did not listen. He didn't really engage with us at all or give us any local information. Also he wasn't capable of gauging our ability and adapting the hike for us at all. More upfront communication on routes/ elevations would have been ideal. Be aware the paths are very rocky, often combined with shingle and narrow in places, with fairly tough ascents and descents but thankfully we're relatively experienced hikers so coped. Might be considered tough for less experienced. The net result was that we didn't really feel looked after and think the hiking could have possibly been much more enjoyable with a different tour operator/ route/ accommodation/ food. Value for money was poor as it wasn't cheap. On the upside we were fortunate to have clear weather which helped make the days more pleasant.

Fun and Beautiful Adventure Hike in the Atlas Mountains

My two friends and I booked a three-day hike in the Atlas Mountains. We did not expect it to be so wonderful. The transportation from Marrakech was easy, and people were communicative. Once we got to Imlil, we met our guide, Zakaria. Zakaria was our guide for the three-day hike in the Atlas Mountains. He was very informative, generous with his time, and knowledgeable about the area and its people. Zakaria was accommodating of our dietary restrictions and truly worked around the clock to make us all feel comfortable.

Amazing trip ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a fantastic trip! Kamal our tour guide was the perfect guy to show us his mountain. He was considerate and very knowledgable and took us on a great route. We were very lucky with the weather. For me I am an experienced hiker but my girlfriend is a beginner and we both found it very enjoyable. She said it was one of the highlights of her life!

Wonderful atlas!

Amazing. Stunning scenery, local experiences and a real insight into Berber life. Great value. Requires a more than average level of fitness and confidence in rough terrain. Pretty basic food but that’s part of the charm and didn’t go hungry. Maybe take your own travel towel as this wasn’t provided. Hiking times a bit too generous. Our guide Hussein was great. A true local, from the atlas and knew it like the back of his hand. Friendly, open and very helpful. Also, take as little luggage as you can and leave most behind in Marrakech if possible. Highly recommend.
