På Sumatra Orangutan Trekking organiserar vi unika och oförglömliga ekoturer i djungelvandring som hjälper till att bevara Gunung Leuser National Park och dess hotade orangutanger. Våra engelsktalande guider är certifierade av Indonesia Tourist Guides Association (ITGA-HPI Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia), och de tycker om att dela sin kunskap med dig samtidigt som de hjälper till att hålla Gunung Leuser National Park ren och säker för både människor och djur! Våra dagsturer och aktiviteter gör skillnad i det lokala samhället. När du köper en av våra vandringsturer går 10 % av intäkterna till barn i Bukit Lawang som inte har råd att gå i skolan och ensamstående mammor som har det svårt ekonomiskt. Dessa pengar hjälper barnen att gå i skolan och så småningom hitta jobb som gör att de kan försörja sig själva och sina familjer.

Wonderful experience: the organization of the tour was great, the guides super well prepared and kind, food delicious and we were lucky to see a lot of wild animals! The rafting part in the way back was also very fun. I woukd totally recommend it! The tourist flows are well handled, you don't get the impression to be in a tourist trap, it feels very authentic and respectful of the nature.
One of the best experiences I've had with a travel company. Firstly the communication was fantastic, Dedek responded promptly to all of my many questions & kept in touch throughout our trip. He arranged our hotels before and after our trek in Bukit Lawang when I was struggling to find available family rooms during peak season. He also arranged our transport from Lake Toba and to Medan airport - which made our holiday easy and stress free. Now on to the jungle trek - we decided to go on a private trek so that we could go at our pace & it did not disappoint. Our guides Nasir and Iky were a pleasure to trek with. Nasir our main guide was really knowledgable about the jungle and provided some interesting insights along the way. Our second guide Iky had only been in the job a few weeks & was a great addition to the team. As parents to teenagers it is great to see young people being given training and job opportunities. Thanks to Nasir & Iky we were really lucky to see so many orangutans & other wildlife. A special thank you for the night trek around camp looking for insects - a highlight for the boys in the family. Also just to note - we were very well fed during the trip. Thanks to the whole team for a great trip!

The 3-day jungle trek was really fantastic! We were first picked up in Medan where we stopped during the drive to Bukit Lawang to taste the local Indonesian cuisine at a local restaurant before continuing our journey. We stayed at the Ecolodge, a nice accommodation with beautiful rooms and a cozy, bamboo-made restaurant/bar. The next morning, we were taken by our guides Nasir and Mehmet on scooters to the starting point (the headquarters) of the trek. After a short hike, we entered the beautiful jungle of Bukit Walang where we were able to admire five different species of monkeys on the first day. We ended the day tired from the up and down climbing in the first camp where we could take a refreshing dip and after which the chef cooked something delicious! The following days were at least as special, with even more orangutans to admire in the second camp, as well as various birds and reptiles. This was all concluded with a refreshing ride on the tires back to the village across the river. Special thanks to our guides Nassir and Mehmet, together they guided us with the rest of the team through the jungle and it has been an unforgettable experience!

The guides do almost everything for you, they are concerned, they reassure you in case of discomfort. Physically: it's heavy, but as long as your legs/knees are good, you'll get through it fine, I have asthma and that went more than fine too! You also take more than enough breaks. Water shoes, slippers and hiking boots are recommended, what I think for us: a day trek would have been enough, even then you probably meet all sorts of animals, if you like trekking it is definitely recommended to go for 3 days. We are luxury horses, so sleeping primitively in small huts is not our thing. No need for a toilet seat, they are already hanging there. But a toilet bowl, but lower! Delicious food!!

An unforgettable jungle experience! We were so happy to see orangutans and other wildlife. Our guide Nasir was fantastic—he led us to the best spots and always looked after our needs. Ragil was constantly cheerful and very thoughtful; when I needed a break during the trek, he thoughtfully prepared a cozy spot for me using leaves. Ninta also cooked amazing, authentic meals for us. It was an incredible trip with such a wonderful team.

Warmest recommendation!! The trekking tour in Bukit Lawang by Sumatra Orangutan Trekking is a unique experience you will never forget in your life. The guides are amazing, caring and funny. They showed us a lot of beautiful animals and plants in the jungle. Another plus: the organization is very good. The manager answers super fast and is very helpful. 100% recommendation!

This trip was nothing short of absolutely mindblowing 🤯🤯🤯 We saw so many orang-utans and other beautiful creatures, and the Sumatran jungle is just spectacular. We had Brem and Austin as our guides who were so knowledgeable and really good at keep spirits up in the tougher moments, while keeping the atmosphere really light (lots of giggling). But! The thing that stood out for me the most is how well organised this is, and how solo-friendly it is (especially for women). You don't need to wait for your friends to come with you, just get yourself to Medan and they will take care of the rest. The staff are also very eco-minded and very respectful of the national park and all of the creatures within it, especially the orang-utans. 1000/10 highly highly recommended, I will probably be back :)

I had a special request for a private tour: I wanted an active, sport-style jungle hike rather than a slow walk like many tourists do. The guide was very helpful, especially when we met other groups on the trail and needed to overtake them. We managed to combine a bit of sport hiking, adventure, and enjoying nature. Thanks to the guide and the manager for making it happen. If you clearly explain what you want in advance, they will do their best to deliver exactly that, even if it is not a common thing.
