I had the most amazing time with the jungle guide in bukit lawang! I did the 3 night 4 day hike and we saw so many animals, lots of orang utans, siamangs, thomas leaf monkeys and macaque! But the best part of the trip were the guides! Demas and papa Ian were the best guides we could have asked for, they were so knowledgeable about everything in the jungle and extremely helpful. We had so much fun and were laughing the whole time! The food was also incredible! Such a treat after a big day of hiking. The location of the camps were also amazing, on the second night we camped next to a waterfall which was cool. And on the last day we camped far upstream which gave us more time to raft down the river compared to some other companies. The staff at the accommodation were also so polite, fun and made the experience stress-free I honestly couldn’t recommend the jungle guides enough!
Our 3-day jungle trek was absolutely amazing! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute. Our jungle guide Dimas as well as Pewoh, Fatir, and the "jungle mom" were simply great – always helpful and in a great mood. Together we fought our way over every stick and stone 😆. At the camp, we were spoiled by the jungle mom with really delicious food – simply fantastic! An absolute heartfelt recommendation from us. 10 out of 10 points for the great guys! Thank you very much for this unforgettable adventure!
We have had a great experience! We saw a lot of orangutans in their natural environment, which was really unforgettable. We got great food and everything was perfectly arranged. Our guides, Antonio and Jordan, were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. We felt super safe throughout the trekking and rafting thanks to their experience and good guidance. The rafting was a lot of fun and completed the experience. We went in the off-season and that was a really big advantage. There were far fewer tourists, making the experience feel even more peaceful and special. We enjoyed it immensely and will never forget this adventure. An absolute must for anyone who wants to experience the jungle in a unique way! 🦧🌿
A realy nice experience in a 3 days and 2 nights treck, made with our two guides Wahyu and (Gu)nawan and cooker Anto.. Everything was good, the treck ( You have to be on a good fit, it's not easy with the hot and humidity, and it's up and down....) The two guides very le ne and professionnels, the coocker is great! Thank you Anto.. We saw Orangutans, Gibbons blacks (simians), White one, also macaques long tail and Big tail, Thomas leaves monkey..birds, butterflyes, lizards..Well we were Lucky.. Aane funny the rafting at the end..
We stayed as a family with 2 children (15,12) for about 2 weeks in North Sumatra. Senta and her team have planned the trip according to our wishes and booked hotels, excursions etc. Even a short-term change on site due to illness was no problem. Cancellation, rebooking, reorganization – everything was taken care of, so we could relax. On our 2-day Jungle Trek we were accompanied by our guides Mowgli and Shukri. Thanks to you, we have seen many small and larger animals and have been able to learn a lot about the Jungle. Our children have distracted you from the sometimes strenuous running with little jokes and great discoveries. During the trek and later in the camp there was delicious food, hammocks to rest and a river to bathe in. The rafting as a conclusion was one of the highlights. After our time in Bukit Lawang, we continued to Berastagi and Lake Tobacco with our driver and guide Yusuf. On the way and on site we saw and experienced a lot, the hike to Sibayak volcano with a great view from the summit, the crystal clear waters of Kolam Abadi, the Sipiso Piso waterfall, culture and nature of Samosir island and much more. Yusuf was not only a driver, he explained a lot about the people and their customs to us and stood by us with advice and deeds. Thanks to the team at jungleguide we had a great, individual, eventful and relaxed holiday as a family.
The Jungle Guide is located in one of the most beautiful spots of Bukit Lawang. It's on top of a mountain with a view over the city. The lodge has five apartments that you can book, which ensures that it is not full of people, but just right. Almost all personnel is fond of playing the guitar and singing songs together with their guests, so the atmosphere is very welcoming, friendly and fun. Also, everything on their menu tasted great and probably the most important, their jungle trek tour guides (Josiah & Risky) are amazing people. We have had so much fun on our 3 days in the jungle and spotted all apes and monkeys, which made it a memory to cherish forever. We would also really recommend to take an extra day after your trek to have a cooking class with Aji. His story and projects really contribute to a better world and he will teach you how to make an amazing Boemboe!
WONDERFUL! We did the 3 days/2 nights trekking. Through our guide Wahyu and his “assistant” Bob it has become an incredibly special experience. Wahyu knew a lot about nature and we saw many Orangutans, ThomasLeaf’s and Macaques. The overnight stays were in special places on the river and the food was fantastic (thanks Anto!). Stayed at The Jungle Guide lodge the day before and after. What a beautiful place! Surrounded by nature and near the center of Bukit Lawang. Cozy bungalows, clean and with a lovely balcony with hammock. The restaurant is cozy and the food fantastic. Both breakfast and dinner! And delicious juices and smoothies. The staff is top notch and made our stay particularly enjoyable. They come to have a chat, are interested and in the evening music is made and sung. In short, here you have to go, what a great place!! Paul & Sandra
Very well organized: With Senta from The Jungle Guide we also booked a privat car that brought us from Medan to Bukit Lawang. Firman welcomed us in our hostel in Bukit Lawang the day before our trekking of 2 days and gave us all information about what to bring with us and so on. Don't forget to bring new clothes for the second day, the clothes don't dry during the night. I advice a rain cape e.g. for bikes that als covers the bag pack. It still rains end of May, thundetstorms or light rain is possible. DIMAS, our VERY GOOD guide cared of every step we did, made many stops, brought best food in his back pack, sang with us the Jungle Song when the path was of steep slippy cley, full of roots or stones and while it took much energy to climb up and down the hills. He always wanted us to feel good, smiled so much, made jokes and respected the animals by not speeking to loud and beeing quiet while they were near! Our pedometer said: about 7-8km, from 9am to 6pm. Little rain sometimes. It was really worth it: We saw 9 Orangutans!! Even a male Orangutan with his beloved lady, mothers with jungsters, Long- and big-tailed-maquaces, some Thomas Leafs and Gibbons shouting loud in the deep valley far away. We walked the longer way called "Pic trail" to the camp, had one rest a bit further on than two other little groups and suddenly a big herd of Long-tailed maquacs, about 30, with small babies passed our place, wild, not used to humans, not waiting to get food, behaving naturally. Also a big Argus pheasant walked by almost 3m away! We always had enough time to observe the animals. But some other trekkers or guides spoke loud simetimes. Near Bukit Lawang the Orang Urans are not shy like in other places. So it didn't borthers them. We could come close to them. A semiwild Mama feet her baby sime meters beneath us! Dimas gave us many additional information about the animals, plants and trees and his knowledge about phyto medicine and how he can prepare it. The hut for sleeping is basic on the foot of the mountain and the matresses are on a concrete base with good mosquito nets. During the night Dimas put a candle light at the door. Don't forget a lamp. They have a real toilette in a hut and you can call Dimas or the cook if you need help during the night. There were 2 or three other huts with two other little groups. Other camps are a little bit further on. The dinner was excellent! In the middle of the Jungle! With Firman I could ask for vegetarian food in advance. You can have a bath in the river. It is not deep . We didn't see one! ;-) Insect repellent: Deet was good. I advice desinfection spray on mosquito bites or screches and a little emergency kit. One giant ant bit me and I sucked out the ammonia. We had our trekking shoes from the Alpes, but if you must walk in rivers on longer trekks the shoes you can buy on the webside with Senta might be better. Or bring extra shoes for the river trekks. They walk the rivers along. We brought 3l water for the 2 days and drank much tea and coffee in the camp they cook on fire. The best tea I ever had!! The second day Dimas brought us to the river for rafting after walking time about 4 hours, 6h in total. The cook was the skipper and did it very good! It was a big fun and we saw on the way a big lizards tail. Was it a Komodovaran? And one Orang Utan again. They have plastic sacks to put all bags inside! We used bathing clothes and T-Shirts. I really can recommend The Jungle Guide with Dimas as a really helpful, careful, friendly, positive guide, very experienced, always smiling, happy of trekking together with us. And the unexpected discover at the end was that Dimas found a Amorpho phalus gigas! We booked another tour "Giant Flower" on the webside with Senta, again with Dimas and found two!! Again a wonderful day with relaxed barbecue at the river!! THANX A LOT! Stay well! Vera & Michael, Germany

We have been to Sumatra to see Urangutangs. What a great experience. Recommend on the wildest to book through Urangutang Bungalow which is the most fantastic place to stay, their staff is outstanding and this trek is awesome. Get Robin as your guide. The coolest guy, funny and full of energy. Also booked a city tour with him. He's fantastic. If we could give 10 stars, we did. Nothing was bad. Not disability friendly.
