We were a little worried, as our cruise arrived half an hour early (The provided instructions were to proceed to the area when the ship docked). Made it to Gate 1. A lot of different tour operators were there, yet they all worked together. Found our person easily. Things took a bad turn when they told us we were waiting for another couple. We were asked to wait in a vacant lot behind a sign. The lot was strewn with garbage, no seating, and 2 mangy dogs digging through the garbage. It would probably take 30 minutes to clean up this space…so dismayed that none of these tour operators had done so. It was a hot day, no shade, and smelled badly. We were worried! The other couple arrived about 30 minutes later. After that, things went smoothly. A nice air conditioned ride to a dock. A quick boat trip to the snorkel area. Started at the drop-off area (the reef), and swam over to a shipwreck. Would have been a long swim for an inexperienced swimmer. Guide was in the water with us, and he was very good at pointing things out. Then, we went to Brady’s Cay, a beautiful secluded island beach with restaurant/bar. We were tired from the snorkeling. Captain asked us how long we wanted to stay at the beach. We said “1 hour.” He said, “I’m setting my watch,” and dropped us off at the dock. We went back to the dock to be picked up 60 minutes later. No return boat. Still the same 15 minutes later. I contacted the tour operator through chat on Viator. Got a response soon after, and a different boat picked us up shortly after. The worry that we were stranded on a remote island had us a bit worried. Cab ride back to port was good, except driver dropped us off a block away in a shopping center, instead of the taxi area. Overall, a great snorkel experience, and beautiful Brady’s Cay…but the wait in a trash-filled lot with dogs rooting through the trash at the beginning, and the delay in being picked up at Brady’s Cay had us a little scared.
Hello Niel, I'm glad the activity part you booked was great. I'm sorry we don't have ANY control of what surrounds the port. May have been a communication error when setting time the captain may have round up the clock for your pick-up and yes we have multiple boats operating so may not be the same one drop you off as the one picking you up. We would never anyone stranded as our reputation says more.
The owners are very kind and talk a lot! We only did our excursion for less than 15 minutes. It was extremely windy on the water and while I have snorkeled before we explained that we were not seasoned snorkelers. He gave us 2 options and we asked for him to choose the one that would be best for weather conditions. That did not happen! The second we got in the water I realized it was very dangerous. Only 2 of the 4 of us were going to snorkel. It was like a constant fight to stay alive (dramatic but what it felt like). I asked to be taken in and then he said "we can try option 1 it won't be a rough"! Seriously?? This was a trip for my birthday and unfortunately it was ruined. I am sure that if the weather were different it would have been amazing. In my opinion the guide should have given us an option to not do it and explain should have explained how very dangerous it was. I was so sick for the rest of the day due to the amount of salt water I consumed.
Hi, we truly value everyone's experience. But it's important to know the reason we ask questions is because no one but yourself know what you can and cannot do. When the captain clearly ASK you which location you would like to visit pros and cons you had to be honest and tell him calmer stop not reply to him and say we want the best location. That's what he did was take you to the best location (reef, marine life etc) We do snorkel trips on daily basis and we know when something is not doable (too rought, windy) what we don't know if you can snorkel well or swim well as this may have been rough on your opinion but for someone else It may have been easy. So please when the guide as important information tell them with all honesty as they try to do the best for you to enjoy the trip but also maximize the experience to see the most of our marine life.
Such a wonderful experience with Jim and his crew! We chose this excursion for our stop in Roatan during our NCL cruise. The one stop for snorkeling was enough as we explored about 2 miles worth of the reef. Next, we got dropped off on a small island for the private beach of Brady Cay. We had first choice of the lounging chairs since it was early and the crowds hadn't made it there yet. The staff was lovely and catered to our every need. Jim asked our preferred pickup time and it ended up matching the request of his snorkeling group who ended up in the same area a few hours later. If you're looking for an activity with snorkeling and plenty of beach time, this is the one! You'll feel fulfilled by the time you head back to the port.
Very personable, great conversations, knowledgeable in the history of the island and great crew showing us all the fish and creatures. Made a rainy day wonderful!
This excursion was absolutely incredible and ended up being a private experience for just my partner and I, which made it even more special. From start to finish, everything was well-organized and seamless. Our tour guide was friendly and informative, the boat driver was skilled and courteous, and our snorkeling guide was exceptional—patient, attentive, and made sure we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The snorkeling was the highlight of our trip. The coral reef was vibrant and full of life—we saw tons of colorful tropical fish, stingrays, a lobster, and more. It was our first time seeing a reef this stunning, and we were completely blown away. The experience was both exciting and peaceful. We chose not to do the optional beach break afterward simply because the snorkeling tired us out! We were so content and relaxed after being in the water that we just wanted to head back and rest. Honestly, the snorkeling alone made the entire excursion worth it. Highly recommend this tour if you want a more personalized and unforgettable reef experience in Roatán. It was one of the best parts of our trip!
Guides were great and very attentive. We had a great time at both locations. The reef was beautiful and the beach was delicious.
To say this trip was amazing would be an understatement. Carlos picked us up. He was great and told us a little about the island. We then went to the boat and we were the only two people. We had our own private tour. The boat was big and comfortable. They were a little disappointed because it was windy and choppy so we had to snorkel the inside. I enjoyed it very much because I kept looking for lobster and saw some massive ones. They catered to us in every way possible. We then ended the day at Las palmas and had great lunch on the beach. There were wings over the water and the view was perfect. I highly recommend this excursion.
Thank you for your feedback! We try our best to make your visit memorable! Carlos is definitely top notch! Snorkeling in Roatan is always awesome from the shallow water from the Marine park to the breathtaking drop off! Thank you for choosing us! 🌴
