Lagunen Ria Formosa, som ligger i Algarve, i södra Portugal, är ett system med barriäröar som kommunicerar med havet genom sex inlopp. Fem av dessa inlopp är naturliga och har rörlighet. Den sjätte är en konstgjord inlopp som öppnades i syfte att möjliggöra enklare åtkomst till Faro hamn. Inom Ria Formosa-systemet kan olika och ibland antagonistiska användningar hittas. En del av systemet är en naturpark men Ria Formosa spelar också en viktig roll i regionens ekonomi. Utöver turistanvändningen stöder systemet också andra ekonomiska aktiviteter som skaldjursfarmar (inklusive skörd av matta skal) och hamnen i Faro. Ria Formosa är också en utsedd naturpark på över 170 km² och en stoppplats för hundratals olika fåglar under migrationsperioderna på våren och hösten.
Ilha do Farol är en av barriäröarna som bildar Ria Formosa. Denna ö som brukade vara en fiskeby, är idag en liten turistort där du kan hitta ett par barer och restauranger för att ta en drink eller en hel måltid.
Culatra Island är en barriärö som ligger i Ria Formosa i Algarve-regionen i Portugal. Den har en ungefärlig befolkning på cirka 700 personer fördelade på tre samhällen Farol, Hângares och Culatra.

This tour (and our guide, Bruno) could not have been more fun, interesting, and generous. We saw gorgeous islands, and learned about the marine life, habitat, fishing and marine history of Faro. And it's just so much fun to be out on the water! The boat trip with Bruno was a highlight of our visit to Faro.
The guide was soo nice. We really enjoyed the trip.

2 h Speedboot super tour, great explanation and the FunFact was huge, immediately again. We headed to the islands could see the birds and enjoyed the spray on our faces. We also have some great souvenir photos.

An absolutely lovely 1 hour trip which was great fun. João our young captain was excellent and informative too. The guys in the office, Bruno and Maria are very nice and happy. We were 8 friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I recommend this company wholeheartedly 👌👍
