This was a breathtaking experience with gorgeous views and a really helpful guide, Aman. He didn’t speak much English however we communicated with translate no problems. All the meals that were included in the price were traditional and delicious. However, we did book a private tour with just 3 of us and had to share a yurt with 4 others from a different company on the second night. This wasn’t a problem but do be aware it may not be completely private. However, for the rest of the trip during the day we stayed with our small group and guide, only meeting up with larger groups in the evening. This is best for anyone who doesn’t mind living an authentic experience, as the toilets were a hole in the ground and the beds were on the ground. However, this was very well organised and communicated from the company from start to finish, including transport and everything. It was a truly unforgettable experience and we highly recommend doing it! As 3 young females who don’t speak the local language, we felt completely comfortable and safe the whole time.
By far the best experience of my life. The whole trek is very well organized. We got picked up at our hostel in Bishkek and got to Kyzart, where we had a hearty lunch before we got saddled up and started the trek. Our guides Панзат and Нурбану were the best we could ask for ! We got stuck in a storm about 1h after departure and when they saw some people of the group suffering from the rain and cold, they decided to take refuge in a stable instead of keep going like the other groups did. They build a fire and lended their wool pants to two of the girls to keep them warm. We danced and shared snacks to keep the cold away. Then when the storm passed, we eventually moved on. They went out of their way to accommodate us and I feel deeply grateful for our group, as I believe the experience would have been different if we hadn’t met. The yurts were comfy and meals were hearty. We loved the Kyrgyz food and spending time with everyone. I think the tour had a nice cadence and alternating between riding and rest was nice because we weren’t overly tired. Song-Kul lake was incredible and because we were blessed by the weather, we had an incredible experience. Our guides even took us to swim in the lake with the horses which might be my favorite memory ever. Forever grateful for these moments.
Best trip ive ever had i would really recommend it. I had with alybek a really nice tour guide
Very good experience. It was cold even in the summer. But the views and trekking were worth it. The guides and camp guardians took care of us very well, and accommodated to our special requests. Would highly recommend!
It was a truly incredible experience! I honestly didn't thought places like this don't exist anymore. The views are incredible, horses are great, we had a wonderful stay in Yurts at kind and lovely Kyrgis family and our guide Murat was also super <3 You have to prepare yourself that it's not a turistic region, so the vegetarian option is basically the same as non-vegetarian, just with meat fished-out, the guide speaks only basic english and if you did not take your own water, you'll have to live on tea for 3 days. But did it bother us? No! It only adds the charm of local experience and despite all those I'd give the trip even more stars if I could <3
The team at Datka provided excellent communication and support right from when we first reached out with questions about the tour. They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time in Kyrgyzstan. The trek to Song Kul lake is beautiful and we enjoyed our time riding the horses.
I did an overnight horse trek through the snow and it was truly extraordinary. It was definitely not easy with minus 20C plus 50 kph wind, but 1000% worth it. There were no one else at the lake, which made it incredible. My trek guide and the camp manager were attentive and made the yurt comfortable. Even had chess ready for us to play! Can’t recommend this experience enough. More generally, Datka Travel is a very reliable, trustworthy outfit and its owner Talgat, is a great guy, both personally and professionally.
April 6-8, there is snow and ice, horse riding is stimulating but safe. Beautiful scenery, beautiful starry sky.
Would strongly recommend this trip for horsetrekking in Kyrgyzstan! The views were as breathtaking as portrayed. Both the stay in the shepherds hut and in the yurt were comfortable and we greatly appreciated the community and hospitality of the locals inviting us in. Warm clothes and layers were crucial as the temperatures varied between approximately -15°C and +20°C. Our guides Ali and Bek balanced safety and adventure perfectly for a befinner group, with added humour and good mood throughout the trip.
An amazing tour! Our guides Ali and Bek were amazing, giving guidance while maintaining a learning-by-doing atmosphere. The food was great, the length of the horse treks each day as well. Very reasonable prices as well. We were a small group of 5, which was perfect!
