Veja a Residência de Lutero, um grande claustro que o reformador Martinho Lutero usou como lar. Visite a Praça do Mercado de Wittenberg, dominada pela Prefeitura e pelas torres da Igreja da Cidade. Dê uma olhada no Memorial de Lutero. Atrás do mercado fica uma antiga igreja chamada Stadtkirche, onde Lutero pregou e se casou com Katharina von Bora. Passe pela Castle Church, a famosa igreja onde Martinho Lutero pregou suas 95 Teses na porta. Lutero deu alguns de seus sermões nesta igreja e agora está enterrado logo abaixo do púlpito. Outro marco importante é o Carvalho de Lutero, onde em 1520, os partidários de Lutero queimaram uma pilha de escritos da doutrina da Igreja. Em 1830, um carvalho foi plantado no local onde tudo isso teria acontecido. Terminamos nosso passeio com a Universidade de Wittenberg, onde ainda é possível ver partes da estrutura que datam do século XVI. O próprio Lutero trabalhou dentro dessas paredes e citações dele são exibidas nas paredes do hall de entrada.

I knew nothing about Wittenberg and come to find out it is mainly one street. But, that one street has so much history. It is a walking tour so be prepared, but each stop is a new adventure into the history of Lutheranism and of the town. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. This tour is worth the price if you are a history buff like I am. You will not be disappointed.
