Scenery is unique, great explanations from the guide, basic lunch, à water bottle refill at lunch time or for the way back would have been a Nice touch. If its sunny, pack protection and water, not a lot of shade available
Your comment is very important to us, thanks
It's a trip worth doing with a nice walk and an impressive volcano/crater. The tour guide is knowledgeable and gives sufficient background. But as you get the impression, he would rather do something else and get everything done quickly, it's not the most inspiring tour.
The tour is not what I expected. We did not do the 10 or so kilometers hike but instead we drove up to the Vista de Mina de Azufre from the meeting point in downtown Isabela. The scenery from the viewpoint was beautiful and you can see the lava fields and the sulfur mine with steam emitting from it. We did a slow 30 minutes walk down to the lava field/ sulfur mine close to where the steam was coming out. Took pictures, had some educational conversation about volcanoes, lava formations and sulfur-emissions … Then a short stop on our way back in one of the island viewing spots which for me is really not that interesting. For recommendations can either be a yes or no depending on persons hiking ability or preference.
Dear customer , the title and the description says walking tour so the hiking is in all the excursion. Best regards,
The path very clean and preserved, would lack to implement signage during its tour, sighting of flora and fauna.
The trail is very clean, the walk followed quietly, during the transfer the guide informed us of several species of flora and fauna what we could appreciate in the place, the viewpoints has an expetacular view.
The place is very nice. We approach the viewpoint that allows you to get a wonderful view of the volcano. The walk is long, there was no major inconvenience. I consider that signage should be placed during the journey and rest areas.
The truth was a good walk, we did not have any problem this time to go up the terrain; although we only got to the boiler part, but it was in order to make it a unique and educational experience. They gave us lunch a Box Lunch, when we were already going down to the entrance, where there was a wooden table, at the beginning of the walk, it was shared with friends as they told some anecdotes.
Amazing to explore the lava fields of the 2028 eruption and learn more about the history of Isabela. Take sturdy, waterproof shoes and light layers to cover up against both sun and rain as the weather turns fast up on the lava fields. Incredible views and geology from the top. This was a ~15km hike, not an easy walking tour so take plenty of water and snacks. Nice small lunch is provided but you may want a little more, especially if like us you have slower walkers that result in longer out and about.
Dear customer thanks for your comment, we will be so happy in receiving again in Ecuador for living more experiences
Beautiful views of the second largest Crater in the world. About 10 miles round trip to volcano Chico. It's hot bring lots of water and sunscreen!
Thanks so much for your comment, we hope you have enjoyed this experiences with us.
Great moderate hike. The hardest part was the muddy conditions at beginning of hike with a bit of cold. Tour guide was excellent. Communication regarding meetup point and time was poor--we were told to be there 45 minutes prior to pickup time.
Dear customer thanks for sharing your experiences, according to the time we already requested 30 minutes before we plan the pick up due to some passengers arrive late to the meeting point
