Exploraremos a parte desconhecida de Gjirokaster, a magia da cidade que todo turista ignora. Partimos da “Praça Cerciz Topulli” e seguimos em direção ao “Antigo Bazar”. É o primeiro bairro fora do castelo e fica por baixo das suas muralhas. A calçada característica da igreja ortodoxa e algumas das casas mais antigas são os elementos mais bonitos. Depois de passar o córrego de Nanxa (onde estão construindo uma nova rua), chegamos ao bairro de “Cfaka”. Aqui passaremos por algumas casas da primeira categoria de monumento, uma mesquita reconstruída e depois chegaremos ao último bairro “Dunavat” onde encontraremos um tekke da Ordem Bektashi. É uma bela combinação de natureza e casas antigas antes de chegar à “Ponte Ali Pasha”, um remanescente do aqueduto construído há mais de 200 anos para trazer água para o castelo. Demora aproximadamente 3 horas e você deve estar preparado para caminhar em um terreno não tão confortável. Então coloque seus tênis e junte-se a nós nessa viagem no tempo.

Vamos parar por um momento e voltar no tempo. Nesta viagem, exploraremos a parte desconhecida de Gjirokaster, a magia da cidade que todo turista pula. Começamos do centro da cidade velha, a "Praça Cerciz Topulli" e seguimos em direção ao "Old Bazaar", que não é mais um bazar. Este é o primeiro bairro fora das muralhas do castelo e fica abaixo das muralhas do castelo. A característica calçada e algumas das casas mais antigas são os elementos mais bonitos deste bairro. Depois de passar a ponte "Zerzebili", chegamos a outro bairro antigo da cidade chamado "Cfaka". Aqui passaremos por algumas casas antigas que são a primeira categoria de monumento e também um tekke que pertence à Ordem Bektashi. É uma bela combinação da natureza, muitas ovelhas no topo de colinas e casas antigas para chegar ao nosso último destino, a "Ali Pasha Bridge". Esta ponte é um remanescente do aqueduto que Ali Pashe Tepelena construiu há mais de 200 anos para levar água ao castelo. A viagem inteira leva aproximadamente 3 horas e você deve estar preparado para caminhar em um terreno não tão confortável. Então, vista seu tênis e junte-se a nós nesta viagem no tempo.

In our 6 months of travel, this tour with Marco and Mario was our favorite. It felt like walking around town with a couple of knowledgable friends – as opposed to your typical, dry tour. We learned about the history of Gjirokaster, as well as what it's like to live there today. The bridge is cool, and Marco even spent a bit of extra time with us to show us some other sites. Highly recommended!
What made this tour so awesome was our guide, Arli. He was so knowledgeable and willing to share as we walked through the streets of Gjirokastra. In particular, we wanted to see the Ali Pasha Bridge. He was quick to explain that the terrain was difficult getting to the actual bridge so he took us through neighborhoods that led to a spectacular view of the bridge. He carefully explained the historical significance of all of the neighborhoods and the “bridge”. If you get the right tour guide, these tours are excellent!! We certainly did!!

We made the hike to Ali Pasha Bridge as a solo traveling, elderly couple and loved it. Just the way out of the city to the gorge, which is crossed by the bridge higher up, was nice. You walked along stairs, narrower walkways and past national-style houses. Nobody has to be afraid to get off track. At the side of the road there are many people who sit in front of their houses and who are really happy when one of the passers-by asks them for directions. Simply name the bridge; the answer is gestural. Arriving at the edge of the gorge, this great ensemble of gorge, bridge, mountains and sky already reveals to the hiker the way up to the arch of the bridge. Of course, this part of the passage runs along a narrow ‘off-road path’. But: Don't be afraid! Elderly people were also travelling here and managed to get across the bridge to the other side of the gorge without any problems. Of course not without taking pictures of yourself on the road.

Es ist beruhigend zu wissen, dass man sich keine Sorgen machen muss, vom Weg abzukommen, da es am Wegesrand hilfsbereite Einheimische gibt, die gerne bei der Wegfindung helfen. Die landschaftliche Schönheit der Schlucht, der Brücke, der Berge und des Himmels scheint den Wanderern bereits vor der Ankunft auf dem Spannbogen der Brücke einen Vorgeschmack auf das zu geben, was sie erwartet. Es ist ermutigend zu hören, dass auch ältere Menschen den schmalen Off-Road-Pfad problemlos bewältigen konnten und erfolgreich auf die andere Seite der Schlucht gelangten. Das Festhalten der Erinnerungen durch Fotos ist eine wunderbare Idee, um diese unvergesslichen Momente festzuhalten. Wir hoffen, dass Sie während der Wanderung zur Ali-Pasha-Brücke viele schöne Eindrücke gesammelt haben und dass Sie weiterhin solche bereichernden Abenteuer erleben. Arli took us on a remarkable walking tour of the Hidden Gems of Gjirokaster. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture and answered all our inquiries. He was funny, charismatic, and spoke exceptional English. Typically walking tours are a lot of stop and go. This tour involved a lot of walking and talking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The tour was just under 3 hours and did not include the 250LEK entrance fee to the Zekate House, which is worth the price of admission. I highly encourage everyone to attend this tour to gain a greater appreciation of the local customs, history and culture.
Me and my friend did the walking tour with Aril and it was brilliant , he was very kind and knowledgeable about the history of Jirokastra and Albania. The bridge was beautiful and we had enough time to enjoy the incredible place. Aril took really nice pictures of us and he was very accomodating when it came to arranging the itinerary and tour time. He made us feel at ease throughout the entire tour and was very chatty in general. He gave us lots of suggestions about other places in Albania to visit also. It was an amazing experience and Aril have a bright future ahead of him ! He is excellent
I did this walking tour with guide Arli and I recommend it very highly. I learnt so much not only about Gjirokaster and its history but also about Albania generally and its cultural and political life. Arli’s English is excellent and I would never have found the Ali Pasha bridge on my own (in fact I had already tried and failed). A highly enjoyable experience!
