Nosso tour histórico o levará do movimentado coração do Market Place ao castelo, Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO.

No nosso ponto de encontro no histórico Market Place, no coração da cidade, veremos a Câmara Municipal e Guildhall do século XIX, a igreja de São Nicolau e as estátuas que comemoram a história da cidade. Vamos conhecer as figuras que ajudaram a moldar a cidade e o concelho. A partir daqui, faremos uma curta caminhada até a ponte Framwellgate.
A mais antiga das pontes da cidade com uma vista magnífica do Castelo de Durham e da Catedral. Aqui, exploraremos a história do castelo e dos famosos príncipes bispos de Durham antes de seguirmos pela pitoresca caminhada à beira do rio até nossa próxima parada. A caminhada daqui até a próxima parada levará aproximadamente 5 minutos.
Ao longo do caminho para a Ponte Prebends, exploraremos os moinhos e as margens dos rios da cidade antes de contemplar as vistas espetaculares da Catedral a partir da Ponte Prebends.
Em nosso caminho para South Bailey, encontraremos a muralha medieval da cidade e exploraremos a rivalidade histórica com os escoceses antes de seguirmos para Bailey, que é a casa da Universidade de Durham.
Agora afiliada à faculdade de St. John, St. Mary the Less, tem algumas conexões fascinantes com as lendas de Durham. Exploramos suas histórias aqui enquanto apreciamos a interessante arquitetura de Bailey.
Chegamos ao lado leste da Catedral e exploramos um pouco da história medieval e as histórias de St. Cuthbert, além de aprender sobre algumas das faculdades da Universidade de Durham. A caminhada ao longo do The Bailey nos leva ao topo da Saddler Street.
Entramos no coração do Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO no Palace Green e exploramos os vários edifícios ao redor do Palace Green que estão repletos de história. Great experience and history lesson. We really enjoyed it.
Amazing tour guide & tour which takes you back to 1066 and all that history from then on through to now ! Easy 90 minutes tour in historic buildings and very witty at times , a must if you’re in Durham . Also lots of local tips on food/ drink etc . Thank you Peter for a great tour , Gary & Pat .
Wonderful historical tour of beautiful Durham. Pete, our guide, was warm, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and explained lots of complex history in a very easy to understand way. Saw parts of Durham we would never have seen. Highly recommend.
This guided tour gave us a really interesting and entertaining introduction to the city of Durham. There was a good balance of history and quirky anecdotes! Peter has a warm, friendly manner, full of enthusiasm and knowledge . He also gave us a recommendation for a restaurant and a good pub -both of which we visited and were not disappointed!
Guide was very well informed and certainly knew his geography. We found him easy to talk to and he led our group through places we would not have seen. He gave us useful advice on where else we could go after the tour.
Peter was right on time and went ahead with the tour even though it was just me. He was very personable and that added to his sharing of the history and tales about Durham. He was quite knowledgeable about all aspects of Durham both historical and current and do I felt I really got to quickly know the key facets about the city and where I wanted to spend more time. I appreciated his leading the way around the city as Ud never been there before and again I certainly got more appreciation for Durham with his background than if I’d just wandered around on my own!!
