Burdah Hike Info

I wouldn't hesitate to book with Wild Wadi Rum again. The brothers are doing an excellent job running their company. Here are a few things that are good to know if you're going on the hiking tour with them or staying at the camp, so you can be prepared/proactive: Our family did (part of the) Burdah Rock Bridge hike. It's a spectacular hike, and it's great to be far away from all the other jeeps doing the same standard things. Having said that, on their website it's described as "The hike takes about 3h and is suitable for everybody who enjoys climbing and scrambling at an intermediate level without too much experience needed.", which initially sounded like a perfect fit for our family, since we love scrambling up rocks and actually do have plenty of experience. In retrospect I think it's better suited for those with a lot of experience rock climbing and those unafraid of heights. There are many parts which are like rock-climbing without a harness, with a steep drop-off behind you, or hanging on to a ledge with a steep drop-off below you (they used a rope once). My husband, 17yo and one man on the hike with us ended up doing the whole hike, whereas the 14yo, another man and I ended up turning around after a while. The 14yo has a fear of heights, but has still finished many hikes that were clearly marked as not suited for those with a fear of heights. The other man on our hike simply decided he didn't want to risk dying, which is a valid concern on the hike. I would urge Wild Wadi Rum to change their description on the site and do the hike with at least two guides, instead of one, in case anything happens to anyone. There is no phone reception out there, and it's easy to twist your ankle (or worse). We stayed overnight at their camp, which is in a beautiful location. Be sure to ask for more blankets (which were needed even when sleeping with fleece, hat and woolen socks on), perhaps bring a pillow case to stuff a coat in (the pillow is something hard stuck under the sheet) and clearly specify if you don't want your vegetarian food to be vegetables picked out from under the meat. It'd be great if they could add men/women signs to their bathrooms, since not everyone had heard which was which. In the morning it's great to grab sofa cushions and watch the colors change during sunrise. Breakfast was at 8am when we were there, so we had a lot of time to sit outside and enjoy the scenery.

Unforgettable family experience, big crush!

We took the 2 day and 2 night jeep tour and really loved our stay in the desert. We would have stayed another day to enjoy the magic of Wadi Rum again. The agency is very serious and the whole team is very friendly. The camp is well placed , the sanitary facilities were very clean, the food delicious. An unforgettable experience for us and our three teenagers!

Amazing way to experience the desert

We spent two days with Eid and his delightful family in Wadi Rum (Jeep tour/short hikes one day and camel trip with stops the next day after a night in their desert camp). Everything was super easy to organize. Everyone spoke English. We saw and wandered some beautiful parts of the desert, saw multiple ancient petroglyph sites, and learned about the land and how the bedouin use various plants. Meals in the camp and in the field were good. Overall we had a great experience which felt very personalized as these guys run a small family operation rather than one of the bigger more "corporate" camps we saw.

Wadi Rum what a spectacular experience

One of the most spectacular experiences that we had in our stay in Jordan. Eid and Salman our guides were humble and very welcoming. They have welcomed us in their home like we were family and Eid and one of his youngest sons drove us around in the desert showing us all the hidden and secret places of wadi rum. We hiked all day to see the most spectacular views. The highlight of our stay was to watch the sunset on top a rock and sleeping in a bedouin tent and eating traditionally prepared food while Salman sang and played music. We would like to thank you for your hospitality and that you give us this experience that stays with us forever. 🫶

Truly amazing

We were guided around by Eid who also turns out to have a hidden talent for cooking as he made us some fabulous home cooked style food for lunch each day in the middle of nowhere. A great character with truly intimate knowledge of the entire area. The pictures and memories that we have from this trip will last forever. Also a nod to Eid's son for guiding us to the top of Burdah Rock Bridge and back. Thank you soo much for this fantastic trip.

Eid, you made our trip unforgettable and cannot thank you enough, please book your experience with WWR and ask for Eid.

Booked a 2 day 3 night tour (arrived late first day) on arrival the weather wasn't great unfortunately, it rained in the desert! So the camp rearranged our tour without hesitation and provided the most incredible trip! We had Eid as our driver and he just made the whole trip, he is an absolute credit to Wild Wadi Rum and the most beautiful person I have met while travelling, he made us feel so at home and so welcomed it actually brought a tear to my eyes, honestly I have never felt so at home while away. He shown us all his favourite spots in the desert and cooked the most delicious homemade family recipes while on the road that were absolutely delicious and I am craving his soup right now!! Oh the soup was incredible. His view points were breathtaking and so very quiet, we saw 2 other tourists while out. He recommended lots of sites and things to do places to go, off the beaten track spots and the usual tourist spots as well. He was just so genuinely caring it really shines through in his tour. I honestly cannot recommend WWR enough, if you do book a trip with them please, please ask for Eid. He also arranged for his son to take us to the Burdah rock bridge climb (very hard climb) and his son is clearly going to be an incredible guide also which is natural when you have such a beautiful and passionate person as a father. We cannot thank you enough Eid! You made our whole experience absolutely incredible and unforgettable. If you are looking for a company to book your Wadi Rum trip look no further! They have a camp as well that I have reviewed separately. You will not be disappointed. I cannot add photos for some reason.

Beautiful sceneries - nature and hikes for the win!

We had 2 nights and asked for adapted planning, cause we arrived late after Petra, wanted an airballoon trip and be back at 2pm on the second day cause we had the train to catch at 3pm. Everything was adapted accordingly. We had the father, Eid, as a guide. He has 35 years of experience and you could tell cause the first day we only saw one other jeep and had beautiful sceneries, not the typical tourist places. The second day, the son Salman slept in his jeep to make sure we were picked up on time from the camp for the airballoon trip. We started our half day tour at their family home after the airballoon. Since I quickly run out of sugar and energy, Eid gave me a full box of mamoul cookies with dates. The half day tour we did the tourist places since it's nice to see but no explanation needed. Even at these places he tries to give you another angle for the views. Great experience!!!

Wonderful experience of culture and Jordanian desert icons

This was a wonderful, though busy, day exploring the Wadi Rum. You just go from one experience/site to the next. And such variety. But despite the heat (it was 33C+) after nearly each adventure, you stop in a Bedouin tent for complimentary desert tea - sweet or not. And remarkably there's a breeze! so refreshing. Hold on to your hat because the fresh air breezing past (even though you're probably only doing 40-60km/h) is great. Ahmed and his extended family connect all the dots - settling down in a quite shaded canyon for a 2hr cooked lunch (traditional stew with bread & salad etc. - or vegetarian if you ask), water all the time you need it, and comfy accommodation, then help the next day with onward transport! Definitely a great experience.

Great Jeep and Camel Experience in Wadi Rum

Great experience in the Wadi Rum. The team was nice and accommodating, they agreed to modify our program that same morning During the jeep excursion we visited many places without tourists which was quite magical. The camp is ideally located with a view of the valley and amazing sunset! The meals were very good, the water was provided in quantity and the program proposed perfect to soak up the place (2days 1 night; jeep+camel)
