We had a fantastic morning visiting the sanctuary & learning about the work the volunteers do with the rescued donkeys. It is clear that everyone involved with the centre is deeply committed to caring for & rehabilitating these lovely animals. Once we had been given a short lesson on how to safely handle the donkeys we went on a lovely walk through some nearby woodland with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Once back at the sanctuary we were offered drinks & snacks which were most welcome. Ps. There is a lovely selection of organic home made curds, jams & chutneys to purchase (the clementine curd was absolutely fantastic)! We were really touched when Adam offered to drive us back to La Cala after our visit too! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience - we highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning about the work the sanctuary does & having the opportunity to spend time with these beautiful animals.
After spending five days in Mijas Pueblo and witnessing the distressing reality of the donkey taxis and carriage horses, visiting this sanctuary was such a refreshing change. It’s clear that every donkey’s wellbeing is truly at the heart of what they do. Please, please don’t ride or use the donkeys or carriage horses - instead, support their safe removal into compassionate, humane environments like this one. The sanctuary is peaceful, welcoming, and allows these beautiful animals to finally live their lives in comfort and peace. 🤍
I've done lots of animal experiences across a few different countries and this is by far the best one I've ever done. My girlfriend and I did the donkey walk and brunch. The walk was brilliant and actually getting to fully interact with the donkeys who are all so loving is such a great experience. They also have some really nice dogs as well that love getting attention from you! The staff are all so nice and the work they do and the passion they have for giving the donkeys the best care possible is amazing. If you're an animal lover you have to visit this sanctuary and help support the amazing work that's happening here, you'll have a brilliant time and be supporting an amazing cause.
We got a nice tour from Laura. She told us that the donkeys were saved from animal suffering such as party donkeys, donkey riding (as you see in Mijas Pueblo)..... After this we were allowed to pet the donkeys, cuddle, comb with it for a walk. These people so loving of the donkeys and you can see they do this with heart and soul! Then we had a super tasty brunch. You really should visit this if you like to see animals. PS:Stop donkey riding or horseback riding through the streets of Mijas because this is pure animal suffering.
My mom and I had such a lovely and unforgettable experience at Donkey Dreamland. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. The team was warm, caring, and clearly passionate about giving these beautiful donkeys a safe and happy home. We enjoyed every moment — walking with the donkeys, learning their stories, and just being in the peaceful nature around us. It was both fun and touching, and we left with full hearts and big smiles.
What I love about this excursion is that you can forget about everything and just be with the animals and nature. The lunch with local products was very tasty. The love these people have for the donkeys is amazing. Together with an international little group of people I enjoyed the walk with the donkeys through the campo. It is a great way to spend the morning and it feels good to support the organisation like this. Thank you so much for taking care of the kind donkeys.
Here, sick or impaired donkeys are taken care of voluntarily. On a visit you get shown and explained everything. There is a nice terrace with a bar where drinks are offered.
This was a wonderful day!! Donkey Dreamland is a magical place. You can see first hand how loving, intelligent, curious, and interesting donkeys are. The volunteers I met, Brenda and Vanessa, really love the donkeys and they shared their enthusiasm with me. I had a chance to meet the sanctuary’s founder, and she was great too. I walked Sancho with Vanessa through the woods, I’ll always remember this. Please take this tour, the countryside is gorgeous, and the donkeys are a balm for the soul.
Fantastic. Could not be more impressed by this day. Grandchildren still buzzing. Whole team friendly and welcoming, taking time to include everyone. Food to die for.
Thank you so much!
We would HIGHLY recommend going to the Donkey Dreamland sanctuary!! This was our very favorite activity to do while staying in Malaga. The taxi ride to and from wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it. Just getting out of the hustle and bustle of Malaga and getting out to the sanctuary was like going to a different world. Walking through the sanctuary, learning about how it started, how the donkeys are brought it, taken care of and rehabilitated, and meeting all of the wonderful/caring volunteers was a calming balm to our fast paced vacation. Lucia was the volunteer who helped us get to know the donkeys. I was thrilled when a young 10 month old donkey got affectionate and gave me a hug! With Lucia and another volunteer, we took the donkeys on a hike down through the woods in the mountain. We each had our own donkey!! At about 1/2 way, we took a break while the donkeys ate and we had water (that was provided) before heading back. After we returned, a wonderful lunch awaited us on the terrace overlooking the donkey sanctuary and hills beyond. The food was vegetarian -- and was like a delicious banquet -- with fruits, veggies, breads, humus, lemon curd spread, muffins and other dips/spreads. We were thoroughly replete when we were finished! All of the volunteers were so amazing and we could really see the passion that they have in caring for these beautiful donkeys! We highly recommend!!!
:-) :-) Thank you so much for your review!
