DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS GUIDE. He didn’t show up and we wasted half our day in Fes trying to figure out what was going on. Now fighting for a refund.
The beginning of this tour was very rough. To start, I think they completely forgot about my booking. I didnt hear anything at time of pickup and I spent 10 minutes trying to find a whatsapp number I could reach out to. Once I did they let me know they were coming 1 hr later (11am instead of 10am)…they were still late and didnt arrive until 11:15. The driving portion of the tour was a waste of time. The car was in poor condition and kept missing gears, the driver didn’t speak much English and barely shared any information about the 2 places he drove us to take pictures. Then, it was time to walk and we waited 15 minutes on the side of the road for the next guide. The walking part of the tour was MUCH better— our guide Yousef was great! He mentioned this company contracts with his and pays him to do the tour with their guests, which is why he was great and they were not. Yousef took us throughout the while medina and was very very knowledgeable. I wouldnt recommend booking with this company. You can likely tour directly with Yousef instead of whoever this operator is.
A bit scary but we stayed close to our guide and kept our money hidden. In reality, we were never pestered. We visited a tannery (which we had seen on TV) and because it was cold, it did not smell badly. Looking at the people working made me think I would never buy leather goods! Definitely worth a walk through, and easier to navigate than the one in Marrakech.
Yassine our Tour Guide was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and caring, gave us great tips too, I highly recommend Yassine for your next trip to Fes, excellent Tour Guide
We were accompanied by a truly competent Italian speaking guide, who led us to visit the medina of Fes with attention and accuracy. We were very satisfied!
I strongly advise you not to take this tour, you will be disappointed. To save money and time prepare your visit yourself, take a tourist map, go to Wikipedia just before, read the information plaques on the buildings during your stroll. You will learn more and surely discover more than with a so-called guide who doesn't show you more than if you were just walking around, taking random streets and just reading the information plaques. For the price, we must add at the end of the pseudo-visit a sum for the (guide) because he is not paid enough according to these statements and it is planned like that. It's true that 40 euros for a group visit is low, I had my doubts now, I understand. But here, it's the opposite, I have the impression of having seen the amount plus the GUIDE bonus, it's worth nothing. In addition, our guide is in a hurry, we don't visit anything if 5 minutes in front of a building without going in and 2 or 3 quick sentences for information, and put on sneakers, because we run behind the guide and don't trust the list of visits, we do not do everything that is said. And our guide really likes his phone ah social networks.
What an incredible experience! We did a guided cultural walking tour of the medina. Our guide Mohammed Yasin was absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable. He answered all our questions, made sure that we saw everything of importance. The restaurants he recommended were top quality. We cannot thank him enough for going beyond the call of duty to make our stay in Fés an unforgettable experience. Shukran Yasin We will never forget you!
This visit gave us the impression of really discovering Morocco, its history and crafts, our guide Mohammed was brilliant, very kind, passionate, thanks to him we passed through alleys in which we would never have ventured alone and yet leads to artisans who are delighted to show us their know-how, from carpets to pottery, to herbalists, bronze workers, horn workers and tanners. He even took care of finding us a taxi for our return. Thanks to Mohammed for this authentic visit to Fez.
Mahmood was an outstanding guide! It took us not only to the labyrinth of the Medina of Fez and the tannery but also to the most popular and authentic neighborhoods of the city. Our guide also took us to some scenic spots from where we could admire fez from above. Nice, kind and ready to answer all our questions and needs.
This tour was separated into two parts, driving and walking. We liked our driver Sammy who picked us up. He showed showed us a nice hill that we walked around on with a great view. That was nice. We drove by and did a quick stop at the blue gate, but I really wish we could have had more info on it. We were then taken to the ceramic co-op where we met “Chico” Mohamed. It started out good. He walked us through several good places though that we’re very interesting such as the community bakery and the weaving shop and tannery. He took us to all the shops that expect you to buy things in term for a demonstration. He did say that we’re not obligated to buy, but we did feel pressured. I guess there just no way around it. On the other hand, we did see some very interesting things because of the guide, so I don’t regret getting them. However, I’m not sure these two were “official” tour guides. The guides we were able to secure in Marrakech had official licenses and seemed much more professional. The walking guide “Chico” asked us if we liked the tour and when we said yes, he asked “would you like to give me something for it?” Which really put us off. We booked our tours in Marrakech with “Tours With Locals” and were able to read reviews for and select our guide, but they didn’t have Tours with Locals guides in Fes so that’s why we went with Viator. Also, I think the price here was a little high because our Riad showed us a paper that had official city regulated tour prices and they were way cheaper…like $40 per group for a tour. Overall it was ok. We wouldn’t use viator again, but it’s fine for what it was.
