This was a wonderful experience. It was essentially 2 tours with 2 long transports. The drive from Lyon was excellent as the driver, Didier, was great to speak with and an added bonus to the trip as I expect nothing from a driver but to arrive in one piece on time. We met Theo at the pick up spot in Annecy for the tour of the town. He was a few minutes late but more than made up for it with detailed information about the town of Annecy, the history and the surrounding area. I honestly couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable guide who provided a great tour. Theo is from the area and was a history major in college so his depth of understanding was fabulous and appreciated. The second part of the tour was a fondue dining experience on a boat that motored a few miles away from the town of Annecy and anchored in a calm area to make fondue with a choice of red or white wine or soft drinks and veggies. The views are stunning. I mean really stunning. The day was crystal clear. We were essentially viewing the most amazing views of the French Alps one could imagine. All this while munching on fondue. Our guide, Jeremy, did a great job at showing us the various settlements on the shore and did a pretty good job with the fondue but it took longer than expected to reduce the wine. Ahh, the problems of taking five extra minutes to prep the fondue. We were happily sunburned and the weather was initially hot, then chilly with wind, then warm. Twas lovely. Bring an extra garment. After the boat ride, we had about an hour to explore Annecy on our own before getting a ride back to Lyon. The return ride was uneventful. This was a 5 star experience. The Alps are breathtaking and Annecy is a gem. It's probably the prettiest town I've ever been in. The streets and canals are clean and inviting. The mountains will take your breath away. Here's how things could have been better. 1. The bathrooms. (I'd use all caps but that's rude.) Please! Please! Please! Any tour guides or people that run tours should be more than aware of the need for bathrooms, especially amongst those of a certain age. If you can't find a toilet, the tour becomes all about finding a toilet. This was an issue and will always be an issue unless fixed. 2. The price. Wow! 3$K for the misses and I? I understand that tour guides and drivers need to be paid. I also understand that the coordinators need to be paid for a very, very tough job. I also understand that hiring a boat pilot, even for a small boat, is expensive and that boats are expensive to maintain. Still. I think the price was very high. $2K or $2.5K max for the both of us would have more in line with other tours I've done and still have been pricey. Mind you, I wasn't looking for a deal.
I was nervous about this one because they coordinated four different people to take care of us at different parts of the day. Didier drove us to Annecy, we loved our conversation with him. Theo gave us the walking tour of Vieux Annecy, then Jeremy took us on the boat tour of Lake Annecy, then Anthony drove us back to Lyon. Phew! But everything was well planned and we were given very detailed information about each meeting place along with phone numbers of each person. We were impressed The day itself was amazing. Annecy is beautiful. Theo knew the history extremely well. The boat tour of the lake with Jeremy was beautiful and informative and the fondue was delicious. Also the timing of each part of the day was spot on.. The only negative we have is that this tour was very, very expensive. The cost seemed disproportionate to any other tour we have done. But we absolutely loved the whole experience! Merci beaucoup

Our trip to Annecy was absolutely incredible. The tour guides were all 5 star- from the transportation, to the incredible boat tour with fondue and wine, to the tour of old town. I couldn’t recommend this tour more and I can’t wait to go back.
