Penny was a great ambassador of Shanghai. She was very knowledgeable of the history of the places we visited. She was personable and delightful. The perfect fit for our family.
The gardens, the buildings, the canals, from which it is possible to catch the glimpse of the local life, the train ride, the stations… Everything was interesting. But best of all was Penny’s (the guide) telling about life in China and how it changed in the past few years. Perfect organisation of transfers by car, train and boat.
Careful planning; Carefully designed; Strive to implement; Customer comes first. The tour guide is interested in Suzhou's local mountains and waters; A grass and a tree; Ming sheng gu Ji; Legends of past dynasties are well-versed and memorable. It is worth recommending to anyone who wants to visit Suzhou.
A true walking nugget of information, Kelly is a guide through and through. We asked her so many questions and she handled them with grace, don't miss up on an opportunity to get local knowledge. Her English is commendable and she is perfectly amiable with uncomfortable questions. Suzhou was a great day trip, well worth while if you are in Shanghai and want a quick escape from the city.
I was in Shanghai for a week of work, and it was my first time in Asia. I navigated Shanghai with ease for my business needs, but I was a little skeptical of what it would be like to travel outside of the city for some day trips without the ability to speak Chinese. I particularly wanted to see historical Suzhou, and I felt that I needed a personal guide to get me safely there and back. I'm so glad I followed my instinct. The trip would have not been nearly as successful otherwise. I took a chance on Melody Tours. They weren't the most expensive, and they didn't have the most Trip Advisor reviews. I'm happy to report that my expectations were exceeded in every way possible. They offered a white glove, end-to-end experience that ended up being one of my favorite days of international travel that I have ever had. Kelly picked me up at my downtown hotel and took me to the train station. Along the way - we talked about my general interests (history, design, and the life of diverse peoples in the world today). By the end of the ride, she had a personalized Suzhou itinerary for me. She even took the trouble to get me into my first class high-speed rail seat which came with the price of my tour. In Suzhou, the fantastic Jessica picked me up at the train stations. We had a private driver who took us from there to every site. I was so happy to have a private driver. He was ready for us at every stop making it much better than waiting on taxis. Jessica has lived in Suzhou for many years and has a degree in travel planning. All of this showed throughout the tour. She seemed to know everything! My favorite stop in Suzhou was the Master of Nets Garden, but that was only one of 4 sensational stops on my tour. At every stop, Jessica was very patient with my hundreds of questions. She even helped negotiate great prices for souvenirs that I bought for my family! When I arrived back in Shanghai, I had a driver at the station ready to take me back to my hotel. So easy! Kelly and Jessica provided a fantastic experience. I will definitely look to them for day trip options next time I'm in Shanghai for work. Highly recommended!!!
Kelly, the owner of Melody Tours, is a true professional, meeting us at our hotel just to say hello and introduce us to Jessica, our guide. Jessica was great: highly knowledgeable, completely fluent in English and very friendly. Highly recommend using them, and would certainly do so the next time we're in Shanghai.
Kelly, the owner of Melody Tours, is a true professional. She came to meet us at our hotel just to say hello and introduce us to our guide. Jessica, our guide, was terrific. She was highly knowledgable about Suzhou, completely fluent in English (a world traveller), and very friendly and outgoing. After the tour, Kelly contacted us again just to make sure everything went well. Highly recommend the company.
Jenny was our guide to Suzhou and she is friendly and very good with our two year toddler during the trip. Suzhou is lovely and we were lucky to visit the beautiful attractions without much of a crowd. The trip by bullet train from Shanghai to Suzhou was seamless too.

We booked this tour so we could experience some of the history of China! It did not disappoint. We were amazed at the quick response, organization and professional treatment we received from Kelly. She was our first point of contact and was with us every step of the way ensuring all was going as planned. She bought all our train tickets and even drove us back to our hotel when we got back in the evening. Jenny met us when we got off the train and was one of the most informative guide we've had i treated us to the best Chinese food EVER! This is a team of ROCK STARS! Definitely recommend.
